I think whoever called for that steal thought the 0-2 pitch would be a slider. No other reason makes sense to go there.

He was out by 15 feet. I guess a slider he's only out by 10

Yeah, and I guess bringing him in for the 8th down 2-0 wouldn’t have been ideal, and then Jansen was warming once it looked like the Sox could have the lead, so no great situation for him tonight.

I thought he was the play for the 9th.

The pitch pretty much served as a pitchout. A slider down would have been a far better pitch to run on. Not necessarily defending the call, but the pitch made it look like an even worse decision.

After the mound visit the pitcher was sticking with the heat because he couldn’t locate the slider for shit. It was a bad read any way you slice it.

No doubt... but he was out by so much I think it was pretty clear that aside from a spiked slider in the dirt, he was going to be out far more than 50% of the time in that spot.

Just a very confusing decision in that situation with a non-base stealer, 0 out, and our best hitters coming up.

I'm generally a Cora fan but that was a pretty obvious first guess horrible call.
