Its a terrible facility in an awful location for a ballpark in the 2000s. The Giants know this and have patiently awaited what is happening now. Nobody cares about the Oakland A's and they are essentially being evicted. Its a shame. Downtown Oakland or San Jose could have supported the team provided that the stadium is in the proper location.
If nobody cares, is it a shame? I guess there's a question about whether there really is a home in the Bay Area where they could realistically build a great stadium and everyone would be excited. I'm old so I definitely remember when the As were cool but if there isn't a solution, and the fans are checked out, then let someone else have them.

Nobody cares at that location. The San Francisco Giants and local politics were the roadblocks to San Jose and Oakland (Giants wouldn't allow the A's to build a stadium there because of the SF minor league affiliate). There are more than enough people around to support both teams but Oakland was simply mismanaged and they are now choked out of the market.

Thanks, I know it's a complicated, endless saga. Appreciate the recap.

I'm stuck with the local A's broadcast. They are spent an inning with Jacob Wilson, the A's first round pick and son of former MLBer Jack Wilson - great kid, I hope he does well but they didn't discuss the game. Now they have a wonderful guy discussing Native American Culture but they aren't covering baseball. The MLB blackout rule cannot go away fast enough.

Part of my issue with OB is that he gets so loud and excited over nothing. Monaco can be enthused without yelling at the viewer.
I can also totally relate to being that guy gobbling up the free food on a flight like that
