People have always been nice to him, whether it's not asking him to move positions for a superior player, or getting more than his fair share of credit for his team's success, or having such pesky things like putting up a .438 OPS in a WS his team lost or a .567 OPS in an ALCS his team lost or a .353 OPS in an ALDS his team lost get curiously overlooked.
