Hey, if he breaks out the pumps I'd be pretty jacked.Yeah, Celtics player with the last name “Brown” against an athletic white guard? No chance!
Honestly, that would be a great move to get the crowd on his side, which won’t be easy with McClung in the mix.Hey, if he breaks out the pumps I'd be pretty jacked.
And wearing the number 7.Yeah, Celtics player with the last name “Brown” against an athletic white guard? No chance!
Good memory. This may make me watch the dunk contest for the first time in about a decade. And wearing the number 7.
Oh, forgot about that. This is all coming together…And wearing the number 7.
Definitely a risk reward decision but I think he is going for maximum total exposure. Building his brand can probably translate to many years of revenue beyond his playing days.I think this is a really ballsy move by Jaylen, with almost all downside and little upside. I think he's got some kind of marketing-esque plan that helps his Juice brand or something, or advances a social cause. I dunno. It's a weird thing for him to agree to or want to do in the first place.

I like it. I think an underrated part of Jaylen's game is that he gets it's entertainment. While it's not his primary focus, he definitely goes for the big moment (dunk/crossover/deep three) when he knows the crowd will erupt. Doesn't always work, but it makes for a more fun product.I think this is a really ballsy move by Jaylen, with almost all downside and little upside. Always a possibility. I was surprised how much the ASG scoring record mattered to Tatum. I guess it is pretty cool to have Slam Dunk Champion on the resume.or he's just a competitive pro athlete
This is true. I loved the post game after the Mavs game when they asked him about putting the Luka drop on the jumbotron and he was like, “really? They should fire that dude.” He for sure gets the optics and genuinely seems to want it to be fun.I like it. I think an underrated part of Jaylen's game is that he gets it's entertainment. That's umm, something you don't see very often between pro athletes, and i'm here for it.
I fucking love it, I just was shocked to him call another player out. That's umm, something you don't see very often between pro athletes, and i'm here for it.
I'm also here for Jaylen in the dunk contest. Ever since I heard, I've been thinking about when he did the drive by dunk challenge:

good for Jaylen—Bridges behavior is awful and shouldn’t be swept away as “well he’s good at basketball”
The last few days it really felt like Bridges was maybe getting dealt to LA and I was interested to see how they might try and paper his misdeeds over. And they would have too however I am guessing the price was too high either in terms of cost or maybe the Lakers didn't think they could deal with the PR hit. I was kind of surprised it was maybe even being discussed.good for Jaylen—Bridges behavior is awful and shouldn’t be swept away as “well he’s good at basketball”
Thanks for this. Great writing. It's amazing how JB and JT are such different personalities, but so similarly likable.
JT's like the mellow neighborhood dad who's awesome at everything while JB is his whacky brother who brings the kids exotic throwing stars from Bali as souvenirs.
Hopefully just a halfway through the regular season issue (effort)Jaylen Brown is letting go of the All-Defense rope. It's a shame since his half-court D has improved.
Just refuses to get back in transition (injury?)
He has teammates pick up his man when the opponent pushes pace just a little.
(Tatum isn't much better, but it's usually due to falling or ref baiting)
Agreed, probably regular season malaise.Hopefully just a halfway through the regular season issue (effort)
Feels like this is why they grabbed Springer, they needed a defense try hard to push the others.Agreed, probably regular season malaise.
It's been particularly bad during this homestand.
I believe it was the reason Joe benched him last week.
maybe some situational defensive play?Feels like this is why they grabbed Springer, they needed a defense try hard to push the others.
Pretty sure it's the guy who won last year and is a massive favorite to win again this year's to loseIt should be his to lose and I’m happy for him but I’m scared of injury while doing this.
On the plus side, he's mostly staying in attack mode and not trying to force it from 3. He's good enough at that that it doesn't kill spacing or anything.9 for 43 from 3 over his last 10. Had to check against the eyeball test. Really rough stretch.
He was very up and down the rest of the game. Had a great defensive series on Adebayo, then went at DR and got to the line. Unfortunately he missed those two and then proceeded to travel on the next possesion. Had a big 3 and easy layup late in the game to help get the win.Jaylen was on tilt for a bit after that.
Yeah I can’t disagree with this post anymore if you tried. Getting your arm wrenched like that hurts like shit.I mean, Duncan got under Jaylen's skin and got a flagrant out of it. He will 1,000% do it again. Jaylen could hardly have encouraged him more if he tried.
Bingo. I wouldn’t consider it “on tilt” at all but whatever. He was very up and down the rest of the game. Had a great defensive series on Adebayo, then went at DR and got to the line. This. That hurts like hell and can mess you up. Robinson gets no sympathy - he was asking for it.Yeah I can’t disagree with this post anymore if you tried. Getting your arm wrenched like that hurts like shit.
If you’re a betting man we can put some cold hard cash on this but Robinson won’t be putting holding his arm under Jaylens after the whistle again
If we need more proof, who was the player more butthurt about that exchange? This. That hurts like hell and can mess you up. Robinson gets no sympathy - he was asking for it.
Frankly this is the one aspect of the Cs I was concerned about - you have to match the opposition in terms of physicality. The Heat do all the pinches, pulling, grabbing and locking they can because it works, especially on teams that take it.
The Cs and Jaylen aren't one of those teams.
Agree and I like the way KP framed it.This. That hurts like hell and can mess you up. Robinson gets no sympathy - he was asking for it.

https://www.bostonglobe.com/2024/02/11/sports/celtics-heat-message/“When they got into it again, I kind of liked it, it got the whole crowd into it, it was a good atmosphere,” Porzingis said. “I love it. I think we have to take those emotional moments in a good way, make us fired up, controlled. We have to stay controlled because that’s their game. They need us to react to something.
“They have to do that to mix up the game, making something happen. We have to be smart in those situations but show that we’re right there. They want to beat us as much as we want to beat them. It was a war. It was fun. We came out with a win and proved who we are.”
He may not try that exact thing again. But you can be sure they'll be doing all sorts of other shit trying to get this reaction again. A bump when he's in the air, a semi-step over, you name it. Hell you may see Bam give Jaylen back a similar arm hookYeah I can’t disagree with this post anymore if you tried. Getting your arm wrenched like that hurts like shit.

I think you’re the one dreaming here to be honest. There arent many people around here agareeing with you.He may not try that exact thing again. But you can sure they'll be doing all sorts of other shit trying to get this reaction again. A bump when he's in the air, a semi-step over, you name it.
If you think commiting a flagrant and then talking about it after is going to stop these habitual line steppers, you're dreaming.
Lol, there's about 3 people following this little spat. Who the fuck knows.I think you’re the one dreaming here to be honest. There arent many people around here agareeing with you.
It was 96-87 when that play happened. Robinson makes both free throws, and then Bam made a layup and 1 on the possession to make it 96-92. 5 point play and as mentioned the fans were back in the game big time. It definitely could have been disastrous because that's a scenario where the Celtics in past years give away a game where they were in total control up to that point. But not this year's team. Jalen got an offensive rebound and KP hit a huge 3 to get it back to a 7 point lead and they hung on from there. Love the way they responded.I understand why Brown reacted the way he did, and I have little sympathy for Robinson, but Jaylen's flagrant absolutely got the Heat (and their fans) back in the game, and it could have proved disastrous for the C's.
All's well that ends well, I guess.
I’ll go with years. Particularly in a game where two other Heat players left the game with injuries. Reminded me of the play where Wade dislocated Rondo’s elbow.1. I like that the Cs have an edge, and aren't letting themselves get punked. The Heat tried to muck it up, they didn't back down, and closed it out.
2. If a guy on another team had pulled what Jaylen did to a Celtics player, people here would have been talking for weeks (years?) about what a dirty player he was.
Yup, it was a dirty play, everyone knew it (Jaylen's "he won't try that again"), and I don't think we should condone it because of laundry.I’ll go with years. Particularly in a game where two other Heat players left the game with injuries. Reminded me of the play where Wade dislocated Rondo’s elbow.
I’m glad JB pushed back on the Heat’s typical approach to try to push the envelope with physical play. I am equally glad that Robinson was not hurt.
