Didn’t play well for us, maybe BB can get something out of him with him being further out from his injury or maybe he is a better scheme fit.

Devil is in the details on this one. Up to 8 million doesn't tell us much.

He was a great pass catching back his first 2 seasons, wonder what happened last year. He was a fucking stud his rookie season, with over 1400 all purpose yards. Yeah, I like this.

Love this. Always liked watching him bounce off people. If he can stay healthy he’ll be a nice add to a strong backfield with Rham, Harris(K), and Strong.

Another year from the achilles injury should help and he had a showed some pass catching ability in Jacksonville during his rookie season. Hopefully the "up to" in the reporting is doing a lot of heavy lifting. Like the move.

I would imagine that has to be the case. Lots of incentives that are unlikely but if reached make the contract reasonable. They needed to take some of the burden off Rham and Strong/Harris are still unknowns. Id still like to see a pass catching back come out of the draft.

I was hoping Damien Harris would end up back here after finding no money on the market.

I'd guess this locks him out unless they plan to use Robinson purely as a third down back.

If Robinson is healthy, he'll definitely help them.

Hmm, Strong and Kevin Harris each showed some potential last year, so while I don't necessarily think they are safe, I don't think on the bubble. Wonder if this is more of a Montgomery replacement than a Damien Harris replacement. Haven't really heard much about Montgomery's rehab or status.

Strong and Harris are bulls, they'll still have room to contribute. Robinson is more versatile out of the backfield.

Minimizing the chances of Rham catching 500 swing passes again is a good idea.
Not if they are going to Robinson who appears pretty cooked. I guess it is possible he gets back to 80% of what he once was but he's still not nearly as explosive as Rham.
This one is a bit puzzling to me after they drafted 2 RBs last year and should be able to get a quality rb in the 4th or 5th this year at a fraction of the cost.

A lot of times for guys they don’t come back nearly back to normal until year 2 after the injury. If he can’t regain most of his previous form I bet the contract is for low money. If he can he and Rham can split the load (probably not evenly) and if one goes down they are a similar play style. He’s a good pass catching back too. Seems like a low cost buy low gamble. I really liked him before he got hurt.

I think he locked himself out with this earlier today, retweeting Darius Slay shitting on the Pats:

Backstory, Vic Tafur was saying that Josh McDaniels leaked news of Wallers wedding at the combine. Waller got married, then traded to Miami 10 days later. Quadre Diggs responded to that with "Patriots Way." Slay responded to that by writing "I tried to tell you, but hey people were tripping and saying I didn't like being coached." Damien Harris then retweeted Slay's response.

I'll admit I've been a Robinson fan since Illinois State. I've had him on our SoSH Dynasty FF league since he came into the league until midway through last season when I finally had to drop him. He's never had elite speed, he's built like a bowling ball (5'9, like 220+), but he's productive, finds holes, and is a very good receiver. Way better with a lead blocker in front of him that he can hide behind, but he has really good vision. He's also good in pass pro.

I think he's a good third down back, and really good insurance for all 3 guys Rham/Strong/K. Harris. If he gets the little burst he had before the achilles injury back, he's a really good change of pace/guy to give your starter a breather. I like this move, while also hoping we don't need to see him be a starter at any point. He can also double as a goal line guy if BB isn't thrilled with Rham putting a couple on the ground late in the season.

Yeah prior to last year I think only one RB had ever come back from an achilles injury but we saw both D'onta Foreman and especially Cam Akers make remarkable recoveries from what was basically a career ender prior to. Didn't realize Robinson was such a good pass catcher back in Jax so as long as the guarantees are low there is some potential upside. Might be good that NYJ sat him and let him rehab more vs. grinding him down last year.

It was more checkdowns but he executed them well. He’s not going to run slot routes I don’t think. Or exactly what @Section15Box113 said. Didn’t realize we posted at basically the exact same time.

Sorry, I’m not understanding the connection of why McDaniels traded Waller and what his wedding has to do with anything?

Harris retweeted a thread bad-mouthing BB and Patricia. Suggests Harris doesn’t expect to be back.

More detail here:

That part I understood. I didn't understand the deal with the wedding and why Waller was traded. But that article actually answers my question

Edit: still seems weird though. The player was upset at the coach because the coach spilled the beans, but then the coach trades the player when the player had every right to be upset?

Darren Waller had been upset with Josh McDaniels for telling the media about his wedding. Waller had kept that wedding with Las Vegas Aces star Kelsey Plum a secret before McDaniels spilled the beans. The Raiders then traded Waller to the Giants 10 days after that wedding.

Call me cynical, but if Waller were still his 2019-20 self, I suspect this gets smoothed over without too much fuss. As it was, Ziegler got fair value for a diminished Waller and moved on; perhaps the conflict gave him cover to do something he wanted to do anyway.

Yeah, I didn’t get that part. I can understand a professional athlete not wanting the location revealed (although nobody really cares about Darren Waller)…but the wedding itself? Sure there may be a good reason but that part was strange to me.

It was a surprise wedding. The bride didn't know -- he'd told her that they were going to visit a sick friend.

They probably don't want 3 first or second year RBs as #2-4 on the depth chart. It doesn't appear to be a lot of money and he's one more year removed from surgery.

Is that a joke? I hope that is a joke.
Because a surprise wedding that the bride does not know about seems like the worst idea ever.
It was a joke. I haven't given it a ton of thought, but I'm at a loss as to why someone other than a paparazzi-chased celebrity would be upset that someone else spilled the beans on their wedding that's 10 days away.

It's also just dumb to complain about this stuff at all until you have a better understanding of the contract; there's a fairly good chance it's riskless or very close to riskless for the Pats if he's not healthy.

The RB room as a whole remains very cheap—Pollard on the franchise tag alone must be making more than our four combined.

Isn't it more likely that guys are upset over Waller being traded away 10 days after he got married to someone who is currently employed by a Vegas WNBA team? As in "sure, you just got married and your wife will need to remain in this area, but off you go"?

He’s not Tom Brady but media and a random crowd could easily show up and I’m sure that’s what they were trying to avoid. I think another player got angry when the time and location of his wedding were made public last year.

I don't know the reason. I do know they were working hard on the secrecy part, making vendors around here sign NDAs, etc.

If he (or anyone else) told Josh directly to not say anything, then that's rough. But, hard to fault Josh if he never got that message since most people wouldn't assume a wedding would be secret.

Plus it's not like Josh was leaking it to People magazine. It was at the combine. I highly doubt whatever scout / GM / coach he mentioned it to cared or did anything with the info. This is all just really weird.

So, to be clear, the anti-Patriots stuff started cuz of something the Raiders coach did that potentially pissed off a Raiders player?

Got it.

Yep, I didn't understand the original tweet that led to the exchange between Slay and Diggs, that Damian Harris eventually retweeted. Seemed weird. To me, the important part was Harris retweeting Slay and Diggs shitting on the "Patriot Way."

Good riddance to Harris after that. The biggest reason he isn't here is he couldn't stay healthy. Good luck to him on his next stop but backup running backs who publicly dump on their teams likely don't fare well in the NFL.

It seems clear to me, based on last year and how they are moving away from some of their younger guys like Harris and Meyers on o that the pats are reshuffling the culture on the offensive side of the locker room. My guess is Mac Jones either has a real bounce back year or he will be joining the exodus next year.

Agreed. I also suspect that even if there's nothing particularly wrong about a particular player or the move is a lateral one, they're ok shipping out some old for some new to just get rid of the stench.

EDIT: Now that there's a little more contact information available about Robinson and it looks like he's guaranteed more than a million dollars I think it's fair to say that they do expect him to make the team, and if he isn't a player who consistently makes the game day roster it's not a great deal.
