There have been more stories of trade rumors than times Mac Jones escaped a pocket. We've all had our say; now it's time to predict, Where will Mac play this coming season?

SF. They liked him once and everyone needs a backup. They also have 3 R4s, 2 R6s and 2 R7s. Plenty of picks. I think the rumor mill is trying to get a R4, but it'll probably be a R6 and maybe a R7.

New England
I voted New England.

To be clear: I don't want him to start for the Patriots. But I also don't understand how he has more trade value than Trey Lance. Given that, I think the right move for Mac is to stay in New England and try to establish his value in whatever role he earns.

Denver as the backup. They’ll hope that the thin air at home will allow him to throw the ball more than 5 yards and will tire out the pass rushers.

Tough to think if a good fit for him given he’s still so unproven and he has a looming 5th year option

If traded before the draft, it would be to a team that wants a young(ish) option with (?) upside but isn’t in position to draft someone or doesn’t want to spend higher round draft capital on a non premium QB. That would be your mediocre teams and contenders with QB issues (Steelers, Seahawks)

Teams like Denver, Minnesota (if Cousins leaves), Las Vegas, Atlanta could be in the mix if they don’t draft someone but I think all would prefer to wait to see how the draft plays out

The Rams, if they think Stafford might retire after 2024 might be interested? Maybe the Saints if they’re willing to move off of Carr (doesn’t really work financially)

I guess teams who want a young backup could be interested and just decline the 5th year option and try to retain him on the cheap (49ers as a replacement for Darnold, Cleveland as a replacement for Flacco)

I like Seattle the best as a fit. Geno isn’t very good, and he’s cheap enough to get rid of if Mac can get back to rookie year form and show some promise. They’re probably not willing to draft a QB in round 1 but have no real future at the position and Jones would be fairly similar to Lock (youngish with upside but unlikely to amount to much) who is unsigned

Da Bears. Mostly because I've been priming the pump for this move to happen to my Bears' friends who might take up pickleball on Sundays if this off-season doesn't go well.

Denver makes a lot of sense, need a QB, need him to be cheap. Mac reclamation makes more sense than Stidham. Doesn't stop you getting Mccarthy who needs to sit a year. If Mac plays well you can flip him

I voted Canada, but more because I'd like to see him shivering in Saskatchewan or Winnipeg than because I think he's likely to be in demand anywhere.

Please, Mac, show up in Hamilton on the visitor sidelines. I've never been to a game here - but a chance to articulate my feelings personally would be very much worth the visit!

PS - if this does come to pass, does anyone know where I could get a BB mask?

Everyone saw what he is. People don't trade for backup QBs. Nobody has any idea where he ends up, but i can promise it won't be a trade and he won't be competing for a starting job this season.

There are literally multiple backup QB trades every single year, pull up one of the trade tracker lists, usually between 2 and 5 a year

Alright fine.

Only bad teams trade assets for a backup QB.

And before you pull out the exception that proves the rule, just know that I'm right.

I mean... okay?
I guess it depends how you parse "bad" but usually teams trading for backup QBs fall into 2 categories:
1. Good teams who expect to contend (Bills, Cowboys, Eagles?)
2. Bad team that trade for backups to either see if they have anything, or who could possibly start to cover a rookie, or an injured starter (ARI, CAR, LV),

So generally, no you're not right, you've just decided that Mac Jones won't be traded because nobody will want to trade for him, and have created a maxim about it that is counter to reality.

We get it you hate Mac. You should be happy, he's probably going to be gone via a trade for a late round pick.

I don't see a compelling reason to deal him right now. They don't need the cap space, he's not going to get a lot of draft capital in return, and at the moment they don't have a better QB on the roster. Also, I keep coming back to how his main problem last year was his awful and deteriorating footwork / yips when pressure came, which feels correctable (No I don't think he'll ever be good or that the Pats should keep him, but averagish starter for someone is still possible IMHO).

As long as he's being a professional about it why not wait to see if he has worked on his footwork etc this offseason and see who else has injuries and might want him after taking a look at preseason reps?

Edit: Well, I stand by this. Don't see the rush for such a low pick.

There were a metric shit-ton of JONES/10 jerseys at the games over the last couple years. Someone's going to be making a killing on non-Mac merch sales for this season. (Not from me, I'll keep wearing my Troy Brown jersey, thanks!)
