What are the Wizards giving up in the sign and trade for Dinwiddie? His first year salary is reportedly $20mm, but I thought the Nets weren’t interested in taking back any salary.

Keith Smith was on a stream last night and said the Wizards and Nets will likely work with the Lakers to expand the Westbrook trade. If I understood him correctly, it sounds like one or both of Kuzma and Harrell will go to Brooklyn when everything is sorted. I want to be clear that this was said in passing so I may have misheard/misunderstood. However Smith is one of the NBA reporters who is cap-fluent enough to understand the paths for a completed deal.

What is going on with Derozan?

I think derozan is one of those unexpected guys to land somewhere cheap
I doubt it. I bet he either gets money to stay in SAS, or gets a S&T.
One sneaky landing spot.... PHI has their full MLE.

I'd love to know if the C's are trying to get involved with any of these UFAs. Maybe they're just content to stand pat.
I don’t think Brad has any desire to add veteran role players pre-Beal who require multi-year deals. Actually I’m fairly certain now that this has been the plan.....don’t put the cart before the horse. This has been consistent during the Wyc era and we know he calls a lot of these shots.

BRK should look to nab Harrell and KCP
Those 2 are the kind of role players who will disappear in Washington and shine in the shadow of the Nets big 3. Agree fully that would be a great deal for Brooklyn if they pick them up as part of an expanded deal. Particularly love the idea of Harrell playing there ("love" in the sense that I'm a Trez fan, though "hate" in the sense that it'd help the Nets).

I always liked Dekker and thought that he would pan out. But the Raptors? Don’t they already have about 8 PFs under contract at the moment?

Good for him. Not many Egyptians in the NBA.

At some point the C's will need to fill out their 2021-22 roster, no?

Don't they already have like 14 players including the Hawks trade?
with 13 guaranteed deals.
If we think Madar is going to be over and he's on a real contract (not a 2-way) then they need to cut Parker for anyone they sign at this point.

Assuming the TT trades goes through they are at 14 players on the roster, plus one two-way. So they have one two-way and one regular roster spot to fill. Yam is probably taking that last regular spot, so they are pretty much done unless they cut Jabari. I think they'll pretty much stay where they are so they don't hit the tax.

That one really hurts.
Mills would have been a great addition but I think the rumors of Golden State, amongst others, being in on him made it a pipe dream for Boston. The bigger question for everyone is that the guard market is still pretty soft. That means Boston still has a chance to get a decent player with some sort of short-term (fire my agent) deal.

These win now/player option deals make a lot more sense for teams with actual title aspirations but no roster flexibility in the foreseeable future.

It's obviously a fine deal for the Nets, but wouldn't make much sense for the Celtics & it's questionable if Mills is even good anymore (he certainly was not last year).

I‘ll be surprised if Stevens brings over Madar this summer, as he will cost money yet not likely help the team all while burning a year of team control and being at risk of roster clearing next summer. It’s far better to let him develop in Israel on someone else’s dime and then bring him over next year when the dust settles.

Lol, apparently all the Lakers deal have been for the minimum they still have the mini-MLE left. People REALLY want to play with AD/LeBron/Russ

Somewhere
Called Melo + Howard to the Lakers. Can't believe I didn't get Ariza, though. I think I forgot that he's still playing.

Malik Monk is a surprise but I guess his value isn't very high.

I want to say that it says something about the desirability of playing with Kyrie/Harden/Durant, but it probably says more about the fact that the Lakers had like 4 guys under contract. Lot of minutes to go around.

Carmelo has always wanted to play with LeBron. A little late in their careers but it’s kinda cool that it’s actually happening.

Drummond to the Sixers. This is a weird one - he's still just 27 (28 next week) and as a starter is basically a walking 15-15 guy. The Lakers fit was bad, but at least you could squint and see him starting in the frontcourt there with AD and Lebron as the title favorite. No way you can play Embiid and Drummond at the same time, so he just signed up for 15-20 minutes off the bench in his prime, for a second tier title contender (current odds have Philly as the 8th most favored team to win, somehow ahead of both Denver and Miami).
