Still 0-0 in a game they should be up comfortably by the half.

1-0 on a goal from probably the only player likely to get significant league playing time. Should have scored more, but they've dominated and got the U-18 and U-21 guys some work.
Edit- make it 2. time to pull Sakho and bring on the Academy kids.

Does anyone have any idea on how to get tickets for Scotland-Poland on October 8 in Glasgow?

I'm planning to be in the area for a couple days for the Rugby World Cup that week. I'm disappointed that it's an international break for the Premier League while I'm planning to be over there, but wouldn't mind seeing some international soccer, and that's the nearest game (and should be a good one).

Tickets are now on sale to Scotland Supporters Club members.  I don't know if you need to have been a member from a particular time, but I think you can register for free and then buy tickets.  If not, public sale starts after this weekend.

Anyone else apply for tickets to the actual tournament? I was notified today that my request was partially successful. I'm going to be there around during the Group Stage.

Yes. I won the Marseilles strip, others in my group won the Nice strip and we got a R16 game in St. Etienne which will include France if they win their group. Good day.
What's the Marseille strip? I got tickets to game #23 in Marseille.

Croatia has been deducted 1 point for the Swastika on the field incident. Now topping Group H by only 1 point over Italy and 3 points over Norway.

I'm still not definite that I'm able to go, but should know in the next few days.

Sooooo......asking for a friend :):  what if a Poland supporter (who didn't speak Polish) wanted to go to this game? Would this be wise? Sit in the away section for sure? Or enjoy the game from the Scottish section, wear some blue and white and just keep his trap shut?

I dunno -- Fletch might be a good source on this.  This will be a high intensity game, and I think the possibility of it being uncomfortable will depend a bit on how the game goes and how many visiting supporters are in the grounds.  It looks to me as though only about 5,000 seats remain, if that.

Right now, the sale has only been advertised to SSC supporters, although it's essentially a public sale in the sense that anyone willing to join the SSC can buy tickets.  My hunch is that once this "pre-sale" is over, they will open it to a general sale and Polish supporters will be able to and will buy up many of the rest of the tickets.  If you go on the SSC website right now, you can pull up a stadium map that shows you generally where the remaining seats are.  I think it's a safe bet that these sections will have a decent number of Polish supporters in them, so as long as you're respectful and not looking for trouble, it's a good guess you won't find it.

I'm sure this is a complete longshot, but does anyone have a line or idea on Austria/Liechtenstein tickets for the October qualifier?  There was a public sale through the Austrian FA, but it was impossible to order tickets without an Austrian address.  Tickets seem to be plentiful on viogogo, but I'm not sure if that's trustworthy.

Tried the Liechtenstein FA?  (If you don't care about which supporters you sit with)

They would only sell to those with a Leichtenstein passport or residence.

Looks like remaining tickets are going on sale in a general sale on Monday, but again only to those with an Austrian address.  Any Austrian SOSHers willing to do me a favor?  :0)  I would compensate with a few extra bucks for some beer!

My dad farted around and we missed out on the last tickets that were available through the SSC. Does anyone know a reputable ticket broker that I could use for the Scotland-Poland game?

I'll sell you a pair for 200 pounds.  To figure out where you want to sit, go to this link, and find any available seats, and tell me which ones you want, and I'll buy them for you and then sell them to you.  http://www.scottishfa.talent-sport.co.uk/PagesPublic/ProductBrowse/productHome.aspx?ProductSubType=EU16

Actually, now that I think about it, it probably would just be more cost effective for you, once you're there, to simply buy them yourself for 40 quid each.  Not quite as a rewarding for me, though.   :q:

Haha - thank you though. I had checked right after they opened the general sale and there was nothing available. Appreciate you saving me some £££!!!

Yeah, a win for Iceland and a win for Turkey against Latvia would drop the Netherlands down to 4th with 3 matches left.

Robben off injured, then Netherlands reduced to 10 men after straight red.

Netherlands totally dominated possession without having big chances. Iceland defended with men and mice until Robben went off after about 25mins. Then Huntelaar missed a Depay cross by a foot when Robben was treated (10vs11). Robben was subbed off, Martins Indi got a dumb red card (just lay there went two bodies are tangled at the floor) and Huntelaar was also subbed off for a defender, although Netherlands was still dominating possession while playing 10vs11. Iceland was basically playing park the bus 20m before their goal, now they seem to press from time to time.

It´ll be interesting to see how this will play out. Czechs should turn this (0-1) vs. Kazakstan, then they and Iceland are basically through, if Netherlands won´t win today.

Two of their last three after today are Turkey and Czech Republic.

1-0 Iceland, game over. It´s not as they were better in any part of the game, but that´s football. They were very pragmatic and efficient. Netherlands were dumb and didn´t finish their attacks, probably due to missing someone up front (Robben and Huntelaar out played a huge part in that, obviously). They probably led possession and shots, but those were mostly from about 15-20m, so nothing clear. Lucky for them, Turkey only drew Latvia and has the toughest way to go (Netherlands/H, Czechs/A, Iceland/H), so the 3rd place finish should be safe for Netherlands.
18p. for Iceland, 16p for Czech Republic and 10p for Netherlands (9p. for Turkey) is probably too much to overcome, as both leading teams still play Latvia.

Could've been worse for the Netherlands, Latvia only equalized in injury time.

Scotland may now wind up being the only team from the UK - or indeed the British Isles, if Ireland finishes third in Scotland's group and somehow wins a playoff over two legs - not to qualify for Euro 2016. Northern Ireland is in if they defeat Hungary at home on Monday, while Wales is in if they the defeat Israel at home on Sunday. Go on...who had money on that outcome?

Iceland's population is less than half that of the metropolitan area of Worcester.

Imagine half of Worcester County fielding a team that qualifies for the Euros.

Scotland will make the playoffs, I think the Republic are just too crap to catch them. It's just who do they draw in those playoffs. Hungary or Albania and they might have a chance, get Ukraine or Slovenia and they're in trouble. And even if Danny Blind is worse than Guus Hiddink, I wouldn't want to go near playing Holland.

Ireland are a point ahead and have a superior goal difference. Both still have Poland, Germany and a minnow. Scottland get both Germany and Poland at home, while Ireland have to go to Poland, so slight advantage there for Scotland. But I still think Scotlsnd are the chasers.

The minnow Ireland plays on Monday defeated Scotland on Friday, whereas Scotland gets to go to Gibraltar. But there's a real chance that 36 hours from now, Scotland will be four points behind Ireland with only two games remaining; in that situation, I'd wager on the team with the points in the bank.

Netherlands down 1-0 to Turkey in the battle for 3rd place in their group.

Edit: Make that 2-0.

Turkey is 2 points up, but 1 goal down in GD. The Turks have the Czechs away and Iceland at home left, while the Dutch have Kazakhstan away and the Czechs at home.

This could come down to how much effort the Czechs want to put in for these games with a spot in the Finals already wrapped up.

Its been a shitshow from the start. Hiddink was the wrong choice, 0 points from 2 games. Stuborn choice to play 4-3-3 so we are always a man short on the midfield. Conceding soft goal after soft goal. Not scoring and not creating anything. Its been as bad as the early 80's. Oh yeah Robben turning into a glass man again. Im soooo pissed right now. My secret Santa recipient has a great chance to get some quality netherlands gear.

Belgium needed a goal from Hazard in the last few minutes to get by Cyprus. That keeps Wales from clinching a spot.

Iceland is in despite only drawing with Kazakhstan.

Iceland knew they only needed a draw after the Netherlands loss, so I wouldn't hold that against them.

And Wales is surely in - Israel is five points back in third with two games left, and on the final day of the group they have to go to Belgium while Wales plays Andorra.

The interesting one coming up tomorrow is Northern Ireland v Hungary in Group F. If the Irish win, they qualify with two games to spare; if they lose, it's very possible that they could fade to third place behind Hungary and Romania before the group is done. (What price a Northern Ireland v Republic of Ireland playoff matchup?)

It could be crappy or it could be amazing with the Dutch playing for their lives. I have a feeling it'll be the latter.

Prepare to be astonished by how completely shit the Arena is, though. It's like the blandest place ever and way out of town.

That's disappointing.  It looks kind of cool on tv.  Seems pretty convenient to rail and metro, so at least there's that.  It's a later game so we can spend the day downtown at least and then just head over to the game.  Either way, I'm sure we'll have fun, but it really looked like a gem on the schedule early on.  I suppose going to any game on the last matchday you run a risk one way or the other.
