It's where Belichick came from. It's where Theo came from. I'm not opposed to any specific hire. I'm opposed to the lack of a process. There was no search.

Why would you search when you (John Henry) are certain you can get the guy that's the best (or at least one of the best) because he's worked for you before successfully? I mean, if you owned a successful restaurant for a few years, run by a GM that was a guy who ran it well, and sold it and moved on to owning another restaurant and that guy that ran your last business successfully became available for you to hire again, wouldn't you jump at the chance? And why would you waste time interviewing anybody else? The process becomes that one guy, there's no need for a long, drawn out process. This isn't a government job he's hiring for.

Because it's been over 15 years since they've worked together and baseball analysis has come a long way in the last 15 years?

In your restaurant analogy, if there were only 30 restaurants in the world and your goal was to be #1 then no, I wouldn't hire him without interviewing anyone else.

It looks like most people disagree with me and want me to stop posting. I'm ok with that as long as people stop quoting me and asking my opinion and don't put words in my mouth. (You didn't misquote me but a few people have. I would be happy if they won the wild card. I just think Dombrowski is getting more credit than he deserves).
