Are nuns some kind of market inefficiency? We will still sign a bunch of nun players this offseason and still make the playoffs
Imagine the hail mary potential. Are nuns some kind of market inefficiency?
Thank God someone ran with this.Imagine the hail mary potential.
Awesome. What a great story.PFT says Four years, $20 million with 3 million in incentives,
Good for him. Now, go find his replacement.PFT says Four years, $20 million with 3 million in incentives,
Solid habits, should take strongly to the way.Are nuns some kind of market inefficiency?
It is because we are. Some of these teams have like 4 times the cap space we do.It feels like we’re working with half the salary cap of certain other teams.
This is where recent drafts are kicking us in the ass. There is no margin for error.
Buy Amendola – don’t want nuns unless they can run, hon.Are nuns some kind of market inefficiency?
I get that and want no part of some of the contracts reported today. Things still seem tight. It sucks we were late to the dance on Bennett. It is because we are. Some of these teams have like 4 times the cap space we do.
Is this supposed to be a play on Sir Mix-A-Lot or am I imagining things?Buy Amendola – don’t want nuns unless they can run, hon.
To amplify this, Lewis signed an initial reserves/future deal, then took a second way-below-market extension right before he hurt himself in 2015, so the Patriots already had him for longer than they might have, if Lewis had different risk preferences in 2015.Lewis took a make-good deal from the Pats,
Everyone is (understandably) upset over losing Lewis, DA, and Butler on the same day, but we have to remember that no one had heard of two of these three guys until they became stars on the Pats. And the third, DA, didn't seem to have much value on the open market until his 3rd awesome postseason with the Pats. They'll find replacements, they always do. No one had any faith in James White until 2016.To amplify this, Lewis signed an initial reserves/future deal, then took a second way-below-market extension right before he hurt himself in 2015, so the Patriots already had him for longer than they might have, if Lewis had different risk preferences in 2015.
We're on a mission from God.Are nuns some kind of market inefficiency?
Yep. Baby got running backs. Is this supposed to be a play on Sir Mix-A-Lot or am I imagining things?
Way to go out on a limb there. We will still sign a bunch of nun players this offseason and still make the playoffs

The pats believed in him enough to pick him off the scrap heapZach Cox reporting that Lewis is happy to be at a place now where people believe in him. Sigh. These ex-Pats are too much.
He honestly never struck me as the entitled type, so this comment was disappointing. The pats believed in him enough to pick him off the scrap heap
Me too. I think he sees himself as an everydown back, which he filled at times last year very well. However over a few seasons I think injuries would set in very quicklyHe honestly never struck me as the entitled type, so this comment was disappointing.
Yeah. If he were a lead back since 2015, he doesn’t get this contract. I get the confidence but he’s going into a similar situation in 2018.Me too. I think he sees himself as an everydown back, which he filled at times last year very well. However over a few seasons I think injuries would set in very quickly
“He always wants to have the best players and I think he showed that tonight.”What was the quote, and in what context.
If there's one thing, one friggin' thing, that being a sports fan in this media-obsessed age can teach us, it's that isolated quotes can mean anything the reporter, or reader, wants them to. And in the context of sports, it's entertainment and getting riled up over a stupid quote is fun and who has time to bother with investigating it because its sports. But when that attitude bleeds over into other types of coverage...“He always wants to have the best players and I think he showed that tonight.”
Damon was actually an example where he did say stupid shit (IIRC) and let on about his feelings being hurt by Boston fans. So in toto he's a bad example. But Rev's chosen quote is a good example because it's totally benign and is just something someone says to make nice and rah rah for the new team and anyone reading anything into it more than that is looking for something that isn't there. It's not a "I hate Boston!" quote, but surely someone would/did think that's what Damon was really saying.Gotcha--figured, but you never know.
As usual, context is everything Lewis is talking about the entire breadth of his career, and how he's overcome doubts over injuries and size to get where he is now. The "someone who believes in you" comment was part of a larger quote about that journey, speaking more to a team reaching out to him ... and there's no supporting evidence to suggest he was knocking the Patriots:What was the quote, and in what context.

Then came his big rise, which sparked his emotions on Thursday. He recalled his days coming out of high school, when only a handful of schools offered him scholarships.
“Nobody ever wanted me, and that’s why I am the person I am today,” Lewis said. “Being doubted your whole life, using that (as motivation). … But no matter how bad things may be at the time, I always believe in myself. I have overcome a lot of things. No matter how bad things get, I know with the faith I have and the belief I have in myself, I can always turn things around.”
Lewis said he’s ready to give his all to the Titans.
“It is good to have people believe in you,” he said. “I am going to continue to work hard to prove people wrong who ever doubted me, called me too little, not fast enough, not strong enough. So I just use all that as motivation. This is just the beginning for me.”
