UConn banishment to mid major status has destroyed the program. There wasn’t even a thread on the team this season.

On to Danny Hurley - but it’s probably a lateral move for him at this point

Hurley jumping to Connecticut is a pipe dream. A10 vs. AAC is negligible at this point. UConn is just not an attractive job anymore.

I mean if I'm a coach who wants to move up from a low-D1 school, I apply to UConn but with caution considering their treatment of one of their own. BS, UConn! Jim Calhoun, not exactly Mr. Integrity, was never treated like this because he won so call a spade a spade. Ollie lost too much since the start of last year, so you want him gone. Ok, cools. Then, fire him and pay him and move on. This is a bad look and invites unneeded controversy.

Do we expect Ollie to file a lawsuit against UConn?
He already has. He, as a public employee, should prevail or at least settle because UConn cannot really show cause.

Edit: I only play lawyer on SoSH.

Jeff Jacobs says Tom Crean is interested in the UConn job and also says UConn is gauging the interest of Billy Donovan(LOL).
Pitt met with Crean today. I think he'd take the Pitt job over the UConn job. And I think he'd be a good hire for them. I don't like the guy but he'd bring Pitt back up to its previous level.

So Sean miller is fired yes?
For what? If what has been reported is true he should have already been gone. A first round loss to a team (from the Mighty MACtion!) that could have won the PAC-12 is not a fireable offense. Arizona is all in! It's the university that probably already failed to take the right road that will clean "this" up.

In the meantime, I'm looking forward to this mess exploding.

Popular rumor during the Big East tournament was that Chris Mack has already verbally accepted the Louisville job. Will be interesting to see if there's any news here now that Xavier's season is over.

Blauds has the list of UConn candidates as Danny Hurley, Frank Martin, Mark Schmidt, and Thad Matta.
Hurley is clearly the correct choice if he’ll take the job. Like others in this thread, I suspect he won’t.

The “glass half full” outlook for UConn: Hurley should stay reasonably close to the NYC metro area to take fullest advantage of his recruiting contacts there; there aren’t many plum jobs close to NYC, and the ones that would be better than UConn (Villanova, Syracuse, Maryland, maybe Georgetown) won’t be an option for him anytime soon.

Apparently Walter McCarty is a candidate at Evansville. He is an Evansville, IN native.
His son is in high school. Unless coaching Evansville is a dream job for him, I think he’ll stay put. If he wants to be a college coach in a few years, he shouldn’t have much trouble landing a job at a smaller D-I school.

I'm hearing significant rumblings about Shaka to Louisville being real. Not sure I buy in yet, but wouldn't be surprised if he moved given the right opportunity.

I'm a little confused. Do you mean that he should wait for a different smaller D-1 job? Evansville is a smaller D-1 school, in a decent conference that occasionally gets at-large bids. Or that he should wait for a better job?

I posted this last night in the game thread; there is real traction here I heard from a very close source to the UT mens basketball program.

Shaka is looking to get our becuase he likely will get fired after next season (look at Texas' roster for next season, it's atrocious).

I was speculating that if he doesn’t have a particular affinity for the Evansville job, he can probably land a similar job in a few years when his son is out of high school. Being a finalist at Evansville can only help him down the road — the local paper says Calbert Cheaney is a heavy favorite to land the job, so it’s not like McCarty’s reputation would be dinged for getting passed over.

On the other hand, I can certainly understand why he’d want to return to his hometown, and being close to where he played college ball (Kentucky) might help a bit with recruiting. Maybe he really wants the job and will leave the C’s if it’s offered.

UConn is close to hiring Danny Hurley per Jeff Jacobs who is highly plugged into Storrs.
That stinks but it was inevitable that he would move up. Did a great job building up the program. I wonder if URI would look at Ryan Odom?
