St. Cloud State and Minnesota-Crookston, both from the D-II Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference, are dropping football:

According to reports today, St. Cloud State (D-II – MN) has made the tough decision to drop their football program, citing budget concerns. ... Another school, Minnesota-Crookston (who plays in the same league), is rumored to be dropping football as well. We can confirm that Crookston informed their staff yesterday of the unfortunate news.

Not sure if posted here yet, but so is Jacksonville State.

Jacksonville, not Jacksonville State. I'm sure JSU's Sports Information office is having a fun week. But yeah, not a great time for sub-FBS football.

Looking forward to both FCS regional wars - Semis next week. Both the Shenandoah/Smoky battle and the indoor frozen tundra battle.

I didn't think anything could top the Ingram Jr. speech, but that just did. The hug with the former coach floored me, and then a few minutes later totally lost with the comments about the current coach.

The speech was beautiful. Burrow is something else.

Of all the shitty teams picking at the top of the draft, it’s nice to think he could be going to Cincinnati. Back home in Ohio, offensive head coach, weapons like Mixon, Green, Boyd. With adequate investment in the offensive line, that’s not a bad situation for Burrow.

This might be a question for another thread but how do folks here view Burrow as an NFL prospect? Obviously his numbers are insane, but he had a really pedestrian first year at LSU and there’s no doubt he’s benefiting from a unique combination of coaching and play making talent.

My daughter's a JMU student. They do lose a bit of the home field advantage due to the kids all being gone, both the game just played and certainly next week.

Burrow’s a guy I want to see at the combine. His athleticism is more than adequate, and his instincts are obviously off the charts (seriously, he reminds me of Brady). But I don’t know if he can throw a bullet into a tight window 30 or 40 yards downfield, because he really wasn’t asked to do that.

His "pedestrian numbers" for LSU last season were largely driven by running a 1950's style offense and a LOT of drops by his WR corps.

Arm strength is his only limiting factor, and even so, it's not like he has a noodle arm out there. His height, football IQ, work ethic, and leadership skills are top notch. I would be surprised if he doesn't end up being a very good pro.
