Unfortunately the BBWAA can be a vengeful sort. I personally wouldn't be shocked if its members make this personal and try to ruin a kid. He still scooped as lot of these writers on a few things. This is going to start getting personal and petty. Pathetic.

Why, exactly? There's zero evidence that he's posted an original story which turned out to be true. But he's had no problem taking credit for being the first to report what other twitter accounts have posted. This is a valuable fucking lesson.

Because he's a kid who got carried away and fucked up in full view of the public. Valuable lesson yes, probably, but worthy of a little compassion.

It's not clear he ever had one. Most of his stuff appeared to be obsessively trolling twitter then reposting stuff without attribution and saying his source told him.

Rosenthal this morning tried to address this type of thing on the MLB network. Kids were probably in school, though.
 
Meanwhile, I'm sure his "source" is thrilled with being thrown under the short bus

It was his "OTHER SOURCE" so his "source" within the sox is safe

Doesn't sound like it was a legit source to begin with so the bus backing up on him probably doesn't matter.

He's also a 14 year old that was having fun on twitter when big names started RTing him and contacting him and putting him on the radio. And the end of the day he didn't hurt anyone, and it feels like grown men are laughing at the kid because GET OFF MY LAWN.

Eh. The kid didn't do anything wrong as a HUMINT collector. His information is only as good as his sources. Sources are often wrong for a variety of reasons, and if they aren't, the CIA steals them anyway.

It isn't on him if his audience is willing to trust single source reporting. :)

He may not have scooped the likes of Hibelt or DFine true, but he was way ahead of any of the BBWAA guys who are getting paid. He should give them tips on how to scan tweets at least.
