I've watched plenty of his reviews. He is pretty good.Trautwein's Degree said:My buddy, Lon Seidman whose youtube channel funds his Tesla, is at CES. Lon has a great mind for tech. His reviews are first rate.

It's for "audiophiles". These are the same people who will spend thousands on a single speaker. More power to you if you can discern a difference but some people either really can or claim they can and the extra money is worth it to them.bohous said:Can somebody go check out the new Sony Walkman and report back how it's worth $1,200 money?
There are multiple versions of this must have, life changing innovation.Carmen Fanzone said:My favorite item I've heard about so far? The internet-connected device that allows you to water your plants via your phone.
Fine. Live in the past.Papelbon's Poutine said:Don't they make timers for that?

If it works as well as the CNET video review I found implies, this would be really cool to have.smastroyin said:I think Edyn is pretty cool, actually. Most people can't afford a horticulturist and don't have the time to do all the research and sampling themselves, and people often plant the wrong things in the wrong place.
At $100 each how much better would the yield from your garden need to be to break even? It's really cool but it needs to be $25.Yaz4Ever said:If it works as well as the CNET video review I found implies, this would be really cool to have.
Yeah, that's a good point. I was really focused on a vegetable garden and that is indeed myopic. People who pay hundreds for plants and spend countless hours on flower beds and such probably look at $100 for that level of knowledge as totally worth it.Doc Zero said:I think it's a bit myopic to look at the cost-benefit of a thing like Edyn in that way. A lot of people just enjoy having a nice looking garden, and a one-time fee of 100 bucks might be worth it if they enjoy their hobby a little bit more for years to come. I mean, I appreciate your approach, but I think there's value in a product like this beyond that line of thinking.
Good idea, because your dad is a cynical bastard who will only see the downside.Doc Zero said:as a tech journalist covering this stuff I'm basically always asking myself, "what will my mom think of this?"

Actually, CES is far more like a SoSH bash than a Brooklyn hipster party. He'd be better off counting neck beards. Every kid in your high school's AV club is here.mt8thsw9th said:

And ponytails. I've seen 4 since I posted that.Carmen Fanzone said:He'd be better off counting neck beards.
