I generally think football coaches are way too conservative, but that was bizarre in the other direction.  Even 3 runs and no first down gives Alabama a minute left with 0 timeouts deep in their own end.  
 
You have to be pretty sure that pass is going to work to risk stopping the clock in that situation I think.
