There's a strong and direct connection between the two as this was the only game all year Mac's had that. Could be interesting the rest of the year.

C'mon 2-5 Patriot's nation, back on the bandwagon!
A special game ball of course to BB for winning his 300th game

It's kinda ironic.. the Pats are in last place in division but yet have the most division wins having beaten Bills and Jets and losing to Dolphins at the end. So who honestly knows? Lol

Agreed. Having a playmaker added in Douglas helped, but not having to make 3 reads in 2 seconds probably felt like vacation for Mac today. And the OL making huge holes and making the run game a threat again also helped open things up.

One QB was getting harassed all day, and one wasn't. It's that simple.

I think it's all been covered, but I'd like to second that the rookie kickers had a terrific game

1. Mac
2. Douglas (99 all purpose yards)
3. Pharaoh Brown (2 big catches and a third that was called back)

You mustn't have been in our game thread.... :) Awesome typo.

Mac. He got it done.

O-line. Just incredibly solid.

Coaching. Great offensive plan that the players could actually execute, for the most part (hold onto the ball, Kendrick). D kept great pressure on Allen, obviously by design.

I thought Jack Jones had a very nice return. Not quite gameball worthy, but definitely gets a mention. Had two good QB pressures (fuck that roughing call) and that solo tackles was a beautiful break on the ball. He changes the feel in the secondary in a big way
Jack Jones
Jonathan Jones
JC Jackson

They're pretty good.

And they're missing their best CB - Christian Gonzalez.

Makes you think why they didn’t move Big Mike to right tackle last year?
Bill made a comment in the presser like "Have to see how Mike feels about that" when asked about him being at RT. Could be it's been a process convincing him/giving him the confidence he's better there.

Mac - Best game of his career so far?
Douglas
Offensive line when Lowe wasn’t out there.

Seriously, with several winnable games coming up, they have a shot of getting back into this if Mac continues to get better. I think the key on offense is to have tackles better than Lowe out there at all times.

Patriots fans (and everyone at patriots.com) have been calling for the Patriots to move Big Mike to right tackle for over a year. It's ridiculous that they haven't til now. Guard may well be his "natural position," as BB has said, but this team's tackle game has been abysmal for a long, long time and it's fucking insane that they haven't tried this until todau. I'll be interested to see if the team sticks with it, and if it continues to make a positive difference.

Reportedly they had to go to Mike on Wednesday and ask him if he would switch. If true the whole thing continues to make less sense. He must think he’ll make more as a pro-bowl guard than a RT…maybe he’s right, but as good as he has played at RT, I suspect he’d be paid better at RT.

I’m sure when it comes time for a contract, Bill will remind him that he’s a guard.

I watched Mac drive them down the field for a score to win. The thing I’ve been waiting to see since he was drafted. If he can build off of this it would be huge. This has me excited.

Barmore
Solid RBs

Mostly watching this season with an eye on our draft pick + who are the keepers.

Gonzalez, Barmore, Judon, Douglas, Rham (maybe?), Jack Jones (maybe?), who else?

The line looked better, was Strange any good?

Special teams played terrific
29 points is the most the bills have given up this year, i feel like the whole unit played great sans the fumble
Defense forgot how to tackle

He doesn't want to play tackle.

Also, I do think he's clearly better at guard. He's one of the very best in the league at guard when healthy, he's a good but not great RT. He knows that too, so I'm sure given what a top guard gets paid vs a middle of the road starting RT he doesn't want to be the later.

Oh, I hadn’t read that. There are reports to that effect? (I’m genuinely asking.) I would think, especially going into a contract year, he’d want to play tackle. Is he actually a pro bowl guard???

I've been one of Mac's harshest critics but today he was outstanding. Did exactly what he needed to do and looked so much confident and decisive than he has at any other point this season or last.

Owenu at RT quite literally might save this season.

Pats DL contained Allen from running and got enough pressure on him even with everyone out to force a lot of poor throws.

Really great win all around. Mac put to bed a lot of things that had been hanging over his head so far in his career.

Buffalo has missed their window. Mcdermott is a coach who has a limited voice. He’s not a BB or Tomlin or Harbaugh. The Bills are done as a true contender.

I love Bills fans. Flying dildos, crazy tailgating stories, travel well, etc. I hate their coach though so screw them.

They have. One of the fakest teams in the NFL. Their window reminds me of the Yankees window 17-22 which closed without a title.
Yeah, well put. They just don’t feel like a team on an upward trajectory anymore. At best someone could argue they’ve plateaued, but if they’ve plateaued we’ve learned that’s not good enough for them to beat Kansas City.

Bills are 4-3, but have the second best point differential in the league. I’d wait at least a few more weeks before declaring their season over and window closed.

Their opponents so far:

NYJ
LV
WASH
MIA
JAX
NYG
NE

Two quality opponents. 4-3. The LV and WASH games alone account for 62 points in that differential.

Only real statement game was Miami. And with that came losses against the NYJ and NE, and barely escaping the NYG.

They’re playing mostly like shit against what’s been a relatively cupcake schedule so far.

The Bills are MUCH better when Allen runs a pretty good amount. But I think they’re purposefully dialing back his running in order to preserve his health. That’s good for the long run but it doesn’t help them win games NOW.

When you have a youngish QB, the window could reopen. Or they could get hot at anytime in the playoffs and win a championship even if they go 10-7 any year. But their defense was excellent and is now getting older and more injured. If Kincaid makes a year 2 or 3 leap it would help them a lot. Otherwise their offense has really thinned.

Everything is easier when you have the QB in the rookie contract window and there’s enough money to shore up weaknesses as they appear. KC, like Buffalo, is already starting to struggle a bit filling out the offense now that Mahomes’ deal is kicking in.
The young crop of AFC QBs are starting to come off their rookie deals, which will determine if those teams make it to the next level. Miami gets one more relatively cheap Tua year, as does Baltimore with Jackson and Cincinnati and the Chargers get two more with Burrow/Herbert.

I would think that if you are one of the very best guards the in league when healthy, showing that you can also handle tacke - even if you are not one of the best in the league - is not going to depress your market value.

I am aggravated as much by Coach Hardo as anyone else—my wife commented a few years ago that “He looks like a Sean”—but I also thought that team was going to fold after the Wind Game – they were attacking one another in the press, Hardo was making excuses, etc. And he pulled that team back from the brink.

They may yet miss their window—it is Buffalo after all—but I wouldn’t rule them out yet.

Diggs is gonna melt down again soon and Buffalo is playing down to their opponents. And Coach Hardo hasn't done much to change either of those things.

Completely agree with this. The problem is that what happens when they only win 10-11 games, don't win the division, and have to play multiple road playoff games to get to the Super Bowl. I guess we'll see.

Also, as discussed, if their D doesn't get healthier I think their season is shot.

He looks like a Sean, is low-key one of the funniest things I’ve heard all week. I’m cackling. Thank you.

I wonder if they're not having him run as much not only for the health aspect but also because he's a turnover machine and running would likely increase the chances of more of them.

I think it shows up most somehow with the QB: he's got some kind of screw loose now like hes still playing that game with Mahomes.

He makes the high difficulty throw unnecessarily and not accurately enough. He’s a top 5 ceiling qb but it’s hard to see sometimes.
