As someone who coaches kids with some passion, I found this piece touching. I love Bill Russell. Like Orr, he's one of those guys I always wanted to meet. Apparently he is receiving the Arthur Ashe Courage Award at the upcoming ESPYs. He wrote this Globe editorial today.

Nice article. My sister used to run a small, independent book store in the Boston suburbs and they would frequently host athletes for book signing events - Pedro, Pedroia, Orr, Bruschi, etc..., plus lots of other famous authors and celebrities. She said Russell was one of the nicest, most genuine people they ever had. Actually took time to talk to each person in line instead of just signing and saying "next!"
