Tough story. That old artificial turf was criminal. Makes one cringe just thinking about what these guys put their bodies through on those concrete carpets. Watching these 41-38 college football games these days (which will eventually be the NFL) is barely recognizable to the 80s product, but if it deters situations like this, everyone is better off.

I must admit, I thought I had CTE for a moment when I read the headline around “Bernie Kosar, Supber Bowl XVIII champion Quarterback”.

I forgot he was on that Cowboys team as a backup.

I thought CTE was only diagnosed posthumously with a brain autopsy. I know they were doing research on trying to diagnose with scans, but didn't think that was beyond the research phase.

Your understanding is accurate. Bernie Kosar became a strong advocate for people understanding CTE, in large measure to his own experiences, but a lot of these headlines are conflating these things, which is generally not a good thing.
