Come on, now Duke freaking gave them the game. The kids outplayed Duke, and the coach out coached them. Dukle didn't give BC anything.Possession to take a lead late...and Nik Popovic takes a three pointer. One later, a travel. While their guys make two straight treys. Inside two minutes, a fallaway airball with 25 left on the shot clock. There is no discipline on this team. They fight but the tactical coaching just isnt there. They need their opponents to give them games like Duke did. And then can't grab a rebound with a chance to get a last minute shot. Then can't inbound the basketball. The more f'ing Nik Popovic.
Its hard to crap on Christian given the effort this year, but the late game management is just atrocious. If he had a mustache I'd think Addazio coached both teams.
You're one of the guys I read with the most attention on here so I don't write this to oppose you but I will say that they look continuously lost on offense late in games. They were against Duke, they most certainly were yesterday. They were against Texas Tech late.Come on, now Duke freaking gave them the game. The kids outplayed Duke, and the coach out coached them. Now today, they play a top 10 team on the road, and their best player is terrible. And they battle to the final possession.
On the never happened inbound pass, Chatman threw a bad pass, otherwise you have JR open for a 16 footer. On the second one, not sure what the play was, others have stated Pops had an open man to hand off to, but didn't I didn't see that in my one look.
Honestly if I were to criticize it would probably be the decision not to call TO on the initial possession at the end. The last thing they needed in that situation with the way Ky played was to have Ky go Isolation at the top and attempt a poor drive into the heart of the UVA D.
It is honestly amazing that after losing a top 3 player, that this team is hanging in as much as they are. I hope they can stay healthy the rest of the way, because they deserve a break. They are a good basketball team right now
I’m on Team 4 6 3 here. I think Christian has done a very good job of maximizing the talent he has (Hawkins’ injury was a killer) but this team very rarely executes down the stretch in close games against good teams. Duke was seemingly an outlier. You're one of the guys I read with the most attention on here so I don't write this to oppose you but I will say that they look continuously lost on offense late in games. This isn't a conversation about whether the kids fight, they clearly do. But they are completely ill-prepared late. Its Addazio in a sportcoat - better talent level, kids fight, but they are going to need someone else coaching them if they want to take the next step. I watch almost every game, and yes I am harder on the teams I care about than the opposition, but it amazes me how consistently under Christian this team has been in position at the 10 minute mark to win a game and then have no plan to win it late. I was actually surprised they beat that 2-10 (or whatever they were) Richmond team late.
I agree for the kids sake they catch some breaks, just like I did for the football team, but the coaching is a net negative in both programs, and I am very very worried both guys are just mediocre enough that Jarmond can't get them out.
Still a bit confused on you position on the Duke game. BC scored 20 points on their last 11 possessions against Duke, scoring on 9/11 possessions with 1 of the 2 failed because Chatman missed an uncontested layup. Do you think they were lost on offense down the stretch in that game? You're one of the guys I read with the most attention on here so I don't write this to oppose you but I will say that they look continuously lost on offense late in games. We'll see, Obviously 1 game was against a legitimate top 10 team the other against a legitimate top 25 team.Is a pattern developing here? What I mean is they are close but not quite there. 2 games in a row where they had chances to win but didn't. Frustrating.
Yup ... makes you think about what could’ve been if Hawkins didn’t get hurt. They are very thin.Late minute fold in progress. Seems unlikely (up 5 with the ball with 26 seconds left) but they were up 12 with 1:30 left.
Edit: Good win. One they had to have, but this team is playing very solid basketball right now
Huge get. Scored 32 on Oak Hill and exactly the kind of player we’re lacking this year. Christian is doing a good job this year.BC just got a commitment from top 100 four star recruit Jarius Hamilton. This is the best get in a long time.
yeah, when Pop gets it going he is fun to watch. He had 5 blocks in the first half starting with blocking the 7'3 monster on a dunk attempt on the first play of the game. I know he has moments where he can be frustrating, but he is really playing wellWatching Popovic break FSU's press all game and lead the ball up the court has been incredible.
You have to expect the stretch will be tough given the lack of depth. Just fun to even utter the word bubble.Definitely gotta give them credit, I didn't see it at all and while they still struggle down the stretch they are a legit team night in and out.
Tabbs not Gibbs, but yes the point is correntNext year is do or die for Christian. Robinson/Bowman as upper classmen with Gibbs/Hamilton coming in. That needs to be a bubble team.
