The Apple Sports iPhone App came out recently and is pretty damn good for live updates. It’s not as complete as a Yahoo or ESPN but the live updates are a game changer on mobile.

The main reason for starting this thread is the fact that it supports live score updates if your phone has the Dynamic Island which is awesome and something I never even thought of. Browsing he web now with the Celtics and Bulls scores updating live is awesome.

With the constant updating does that app drain your battery?

We will see. It’s from Apple so I wouldn’t expect it to be horrible. Really just been testing it for the last couple days and tonight’s C’s game is the first live update one.

It definitely has potential. A couple of things I hope they add or tweak in future releases:

• NHL - Add a Scoring Summary with the period, time, goal scorer, and assists on the Summary tab of a game.
• College Sports - Ability to follow "Men's College Basketball" or "Women's College Basketball" entirely instead of just by conference or team.
• With the My Leagues filter selected, group the games by each of the followed leagues rather than what appears to be random sorting with the followed teams at the top.

From what I've read, the missing leagues will start to be added as those seasons approach.

Leagues that are out of season are not shown.

Do you know how to turn on the live updates? I have iPhone 14 pro and don't see an option to turn on.

This seems like a half-baked app and it doesn't even appear to utilize the dynamic display. I'll stick with theScore which is fully functioning yet simply designed.

I don't think the app has live activities/dynamic island support. This was already available for sports scores through the AppleTV app

I've been using the Sports Alert app, and it feels like it has a lot more information than this new Apple app.

I'm a big fan of theScore. It's simple, lightweight, you can pick your favorite teams and leagues and get notifications.

No sports news unless I'm missing something. I use TheScore.

It’s not an app (so no notifications) but I really like Plain Text Sports and keep it bookmarked. Refreshing to get pure information & nothing else.

I’ve been using The Athletic app for live scores and it does a nice good job, I think it only does notifications for game start and final score though.
