Cora had one skill as a player ... fouling off pitches after two strikes ... and he can't even get these guys to swing with two strikes

The playoffs were a pipe dream but I was going to settle for not finishing in last place. Looks like we wont even have that by the end of the week.

Texas literally handing a playoff spot away. This team refuses to take advantage of a golden opportunity.
Because they suck ass. They are the complete opposite of fundamentally sound and are incredibly inconsistent. They are exactly who they have been all year.

The only consolation to this season was the prospect of finishing ahead of the MFY. I suspect that won't last much longer.

No chance. Thankfully both teams shouldn't make the playoffs - and maybe we'll get the better draft pick to help us in 2029.

Yankees are 5.5 games better than the Sox, if you remove head to head games. Sox are 64-67 when not playing the Yankees.

I guess we can take solace in the fact that were the Sox, say 5-4 against the Yankees instead of 8-1, the Yankees would be right in the thick of it.

So we got that going for us.

(15-4 against Yankees and Jays, 57-64 against everyone else. 15-8 in July, 57-60 the rest of the season. 0-9 at home against Miami, St. L and Pitt- teams that are a combined 31 games under .500 when not playing the Sox). Meh, we could do this all day- this team just isn’t very good.

The Yankees ARE right in the thick of it. They are a different team than the one that lost 10 games in a row in august. The addition of Dominguez has apparently made them a powerhouse. NY media already has a spot for him reserved in Cooperstown.

Texas is completely done. I also dont see Toronto being much of an obstacle either and can easily be swept (they are currently struggling against statistically the worst team in history).

The final WC spot might very well go down to the Sox and MFY.

The Yankees have between a 1-2% chance of making the playoffs depending on where you look. They would have to finish the season 19-4 to reach the projected 89 wins of Texas/Toronto for the final spot.

Not happening.

They are well on their way to that kind of finish. Undefeated so far in September.

Texas is done. The 89 wins might not be necessary.

Managers don't have any ability to change anything. Once these guys hit the bigs, they're finished products.
Which means the people that should be "finished" are the folks in the minors who are not teaching very well at all.

And, just for clarity's sake, I was being sarcastic. Even pros need to practice things like rundowns. Clearly, this Red Sox team does. That was an embarrassing display.
