Ovis Portes was making his first appearance of the season & struck out the side on 10 pitches. I feel pretty ahead of the curve having him on my list, even if he was 204th lolYoeilin is 2-2 with a 2b and BB. Starlyn is 2-3 with a 2b of his own.
The DSL Red pitchers were DOMINANT in a 4-0 victory, with Portes, Batista, and Figueroa combining for 14 strikeouts, 2 hits, and just 1 walk. Figueroa—not even 17 and a half yet—got the save by pitching the final 4 innings, striking out 6 and only yielding 1 hit. Over his last 3 outings he has pitched 9 innings, struck out 9, given up 5h/3bb, and only 1er, but today was the best outing of his pro career so far. He signed for $55k in January out of the DR.
Thx! Now I probably need to do that analysis, though... unless anyone else wants to?Just dropping in to thank @JM3 for heroic work making this board a regular check-in for me.
And this was a really good thread title.
Haters.Looks like the DSL Blue game was ended after 5, robbing us of more Yoeilis and Starlyn at bats.
Yonfi Rodriguez may no longer be allowed to float by on the cool name. He allowed 4 runs in 2 innings, 4 hits, 5 walks, 1 strikeout, raised his ERA to 4.50.The FCL Sox started Francis Hernandez (#189). He's more of a reliever, but probably would have pitched more if he pitched better. 2 innings, allowing 2 runs on 4 hits & 2 walks with 2 strikeouts.
He was relieved by a guy who has an 18 ERA in his 8 innings this season, Jogly Brayan Garcia.
I have mixed feelings about the name Jogly, but it's kind of fun. Anyway, he pitched 3 scoreless innings only allowing 1 hit & striking out 1, lowering his ERA to 13.09.
After him came another problem pitcher, Garrett Ramsey. I had him #168, but that seems too high for the '22 16th round pick after his last couple outtings. Today in 2 innings he allowed 3 runs on 4 hits & 2 walks with 3 strikeouts & raised his ERA to 5.71.

View: https://twitter.com/Hunter_Noll/status/1684697375078498304Oh lol... while I was writing that up, Rosier led off the game with a walk, stole 2nd & 3rd, & scored on a ground ball to 1st by Meidroth.
Yeah, pretty good return for Jay Groome's 8.01 ERA & 40-man spot.Yeah I keep thinking they've got something in Rosier. 12th round pick in 2021 by the Mariners who came over in a mid season trade last year. Has hit pretty well everywhere he's been and obviously can run. Hadn't noticed that he's not even in the Sox Prospects top 60.
Sikes struck out on 3 pitches.Oh lol... while I was writing that up, Rosier led off the game with a walk, stole 2nd & 3rd, & scored on a ground ball to 1st by Meidroth.
McDonough did single to raise his OPS to .671, ahead of Sikes' .659. Of course Rosier's is .851 (after striking out in his 2nd AB, I'll shut up about it for now, but their rankings are sketchy to me)...Sikes struck out on 3 pitches.
