And he gives up a hit to the first batter he faces in the 7th. I'm blaming you or something.

UWS, NYC
Sean Coyle with 2 more hits, including a homer.  OPS'ing north of .900 against lefties and righties (.918 total).

Edit:  If nothing else, he's becoming very legitimate trade bait.

Joe Gunkel left the Greenville game after 6.1 up 4-1, but two singles and an error later, both of Gunkel's inherited runners (on a walk and a single) and a third Rome batter came around to score, and reliever Mike Adams gave up a walk-off in the 9th. Drive lose 5-4

STORIES

PAWSOX

Game Story

Pawtucket starter Chris Hernandez allowed only one hit in 7.1 brilliant shutout innings and the PawSox held off a late Louisville rally en route to a 4-3 victory over the Bats in front of 6,219 fans on Sunday afternoon at McCoy Stadium.

Pawtucket (32-33) has taken the first two games of the series and has now won three straight for the first time since April 17th. Hernandez (3-6) took a no-hitter into the seventh inning before Joey Votto, appearing with Louisville on MLB injury rehab, broke up the bid with a single.

Hernandez was pulled with one out in the eighth following a walk to Thomas Neal and ended up being charged with one run while striking out a career-high nine batters. The left-hander collected the fifth-consecutive quality start for a Pawtucket starting pitcher (34.0 innings pitched, 4 runs allowed in the last five games).

After reliever John Ely allowed a two-run home run to Bats catcher Bryan Anderson in the eighth, Chris Resop entered and recorded the final four outs to earn his second save of the season. Resop issued a home run to Felix Perez in the ninth, but two batters later induced a ground out from Neal to end the game.

Pawtucket scored all four of its runs against Bats starter Chien-Ming Wang (6-5), who allowed 11 hits in six plus innings of work. After plating an unearned run in the first, the PawSox collected a sacrifice fly from Christian Vazquez in the sixth to double the lead.

Wang allowed the first three batters he faced in the seventh to reach and was pulled in favor of reliever Curtis Partch. Mike McCoy greeted Partch with a sacrifice fly to make the score 3-0, then Travis Shaw delivered an RBI single to bring home the final PawSox run.

McCoy, Carlos Rivero, Corey Brown, Dan Butler and Justin Henry each collected two of Pawtucket's 12 hits on the afternoon. The PawSox had a total of 18 baserunners but stranded ten men on base.
SEADOGS

Game Story

The Portland Sea Dogs (41-22) fell behind for the third game in a row, but battled back to salvage the finale of the three-game series with the 5-4 walk-off win over the Bowie Baysox (32-30) in 10 innings Sunday afternoon at Hadlock Field.

Both teams fought to a 2-2 tie after six in a pitcher's duel, but the Baysox plated a pair and took their second lead of the game. Mike Augliera began his seventh inning with a groundout to third, but gave up two singles to the next two hitters.

The righty battled back to get another out on a fly ball to right, but gave up a single to K.D. Kang that plated Chih-Hsien Chiang and ended his day on the mound. Michael Olmsted took over and was greeted by an RBI single off the bat of Niuman Romero and the lead elevated to 4-2 Bowie.

The Baysox's starter Eduardo Rodriguez along with Juan Morillo combined to pitch a scoreless seventh, but the 'Dogs bounced back against the bullpen in the eighth. Bo Greenwell worked a one-out walk against Morillo, and scored on Derrik Gibson's double to right making it 4-3. Deven Marrero followed and singled home Gibson to tie it at four against the new pitcher Chris Petrini.

Both teams went quietly in the ninth and headed for extras in the Sunday matinee. Olmsted and Miguel Celestino combined to retire the final 10 men in a row before the Sea Dogs hit in the bottom of the 10th.

Jonathan Roof worked a leadoff walk and moved to second on a sacrifice bunt by Heiker Meneses. Bo Greenwell flied out to center before the Baysox dipped to the bullpen one last time. Fabio Castillo was called upon to retire Gibson, but the centerfielder smacked a single into left field, which scored Roof and sent the Sea Dogs to the 5-4 win.

Celestino (1-2) earned his first win of the season with two perfect innings of relief. Petrini (2-2) took the loss for the Baysox allowing the one run in two and one-third innings.
SALEM

Game Story

The Salem Red Sox scored seven runs in the first and four in the fourth, but it was not enough as Lynchburg battled back and scored three in the ninth to win 12-11. The walk-off was Lynchburg's seventh walk-out win of the season and second of the series.

The Red Sox struck early and often off of Hillcats starter Lay Batista, who lasted just one inning. With one away, Michael Miller singled and reached second on an error. He was driven home on a double by Ryan Dent to give the Sox a 1-0 lead. Kevin Heller was then hit by a pitch, followed by a single by Carson Blair which scored Dent. Mario Martinez walked to load the bases, and Aneury Tavarez singled home two runs to give Salem a 4-0 lead. Not done yet, Tim Roberson doubled home Martinez and Tavarez to make it 6-0. Then Matty Johnson singled home Roberson to cap off the 7-0 lead after a half inning.

Lynchburg would slowly claw their way back into the game beginning in the bottom of the first off of Sox starter Corey Littrell. With two outs, consecutive singles by David Nick and Kevin Ahrens put runners on second and third. Littrell then hit Levi Hyams to load the bases, and walked Daniel Carroll to make it 7-1.

Lynchburg added two in the second. Anthony Nunez and Jose Peraza both singled, which set up first and third with one out. Kyle Wren drove home Nunez on a sacrifice fly to make it 7-2. The a RBI triple by Nick scored Peraza to cut the lead to four.

But the Sox then put together a second big inning in the fourth. Michael Miller walked to start the frame, stole second, reached third on a sacrifice bunt, and scored on a single by Heller to make it 8-3. Then after a walk to Blair, Mario Martinez launched a three run homer off of Matt Chaffee, who had relieved Batista after the first, to make it 11-3.

The Sox would not score the rest of the way as Lynchburg slowly chipped away at the lead.
DRIVE

Game Story

The Greenville Drive (30-32) looked to be headed towards a series split after jumping out to an early lead on Sunday afternoon. The Rome Braves (21-42) had other ideas, staging a big comeback late and eventually walking off with a 5-4 win to clinch a 3-1 series victory.

With the game tied at four in the bottom of the ninth and one out, Blake Brown played the role of hero for the Braves, as he cracked a walk-off solo homer to right field against Mike Adams (1-2).

The Drive took a 4-1 lead into the seventh inning, but the Braves made things interesting by putting two men on with one out to knock Drive starter Joe Gunkel out of the game. After another single loaded the bases, Brown delivered an RBI single to cut the lead to 4-2. Connor Oliver grounded into a fielder's choice to score another run, and Adams looked to be out of the jam, but a throwing error allowed the tying run to score.

Cesar Lopez (1-0) got the win for Rome after throwing a pair of scoreless innings.

The Drive hit four singles in the first inning against Rome starter Steve Janas to get on the board, with Wendell Rijo's two-out single scoring Forrestt Allday, who singled to begin the frame. The Braves answered back in the bottom half on a sacrifice fly by Jacob Schrader.

Rijo drove in another run in the third with a sacrifice fly, and Allday hit a sacrifice fly of his own to make the score 3-1. A balk by Janas brought home Jake Romanski to score the Drive's final run of the day.

Brown was the hero, going 2-4 with the winning homer and two RBI. Jordan Weems had two hits for the Drive, and Rijo drove in a pair.
