By far the most interesting thing about the DSL season so far has been Dalvinson Reyes.

In his 2nd start of the season:

In his 1st start he pitched 3 perfect innings with 3 strikeouts.

Pretty intriguing from a guy who received the highest signing bonus of any Red Sox IFA pitcher since Jedixson Paez also got $450k in 2021.

Reyes is 6'5 & doesn't turn 18 until November.

Royman Blanco pitched 2 scoreless innings but then allowed a run in the 8th to tie the game at 1.

Natty Cruz pitched a scoreless 9th, setting up Antonio Anderson for a 2-out game winning single & a 2-1 victory.

DSL Red won 11-2.

Charlie Zink started & pitched 3 scoreless. He has now allowed 1 run in 6 IP.

Merlin Bido allowed 2 runs in 2.2 IP, but still rocks a 2.79 ERA in 9.2 IP, 3 ER, 3 hits, 3 bb, 9 k.

Yander Bonaci, who I wrote about last Friday:

But the SSS guy who stands out from this game is Yander Bonaci.

There is a lot of trauma associated around most of that name, but the 5'11 LHP went 6 up, 6 down & in 3 games this season:

FCL Sox went down 4-2 in the top of the 8th, but scored 2 in the bottom of the 8th. Yoely came up with 1 out & he bases loaded in the bottom of the 9th...& grounded into a force out at the plate. Game winning run scored on a 2-
-out wild pitch, though & the FCL Sox won 5-4.

The only really good thing about Yeferson Vargas last year in the DSL was his awesome boxer name.

He had a 6.09 ERA in 34 IP with 8.7 k/9 & 6.4 bb/9.

Vargas has been surprisingly competent this year, though. After allowing 1 run in 4 IP today, he now has a 3.00 ERA in 18 IP with 11.5 k/9 & 3.5 bb/9.

So it's possible they unlocked something. Vargas is a 6'1 RHP from the DR who they signed for $10k in December '22.

Luis Talavera pitched 2 innings with an unearned run on 0 hits, a walk & 2 strikeouts in his 1st rehab appearance of the season.

Jogly allowed 2 runs, 1 earned in 2 innings, & Yonfi pitched a scoreless 9th & picked up the win.

Portland fell behind 10-4 in the 7th. They scored 5 in the bottom of the 7th, allowed 1 in the top of the 8th, & scored 3 in the bottom of the 8th & ended up winning 12-11.

It's rough when their only starter who has given them any length, Hunter Dobbins, didn't make it out of the 4th.
