The most favorable thing I see for Chris is that our hitters are chasing pitches outside the zone.
I mean I know it's fun to blame the Red Sox players, but give Sale some credit. There's not very many left-hand hitters that have any idea where his slider is going. Everybody swings at his shit out of the zone because most guys can't even tell if it's a slider or a fastball until it's too late.

Hey, absolutely. He's around the plate. He's gonna get double digit K's tonight. But we are helping him too.

Tell me again why we traded Sale before the season?
Especially to a team we were going to face.
Could we not have gotten the same return or more for him at the trade deadline?

I think the assumption was the team was unlikely to contend and another injury riddled season would make Sale harder to move. They liked Grissom and prob thought Sale needed a fresh start. This Sale fronting the Sox staff would be pretty amazing though.

Miami (oh, Miami!)
Turned on the audio because of the new pitcher to hear DOB crawl up Sale's ass with a recap while ignoring the current at-bat.

It's off again.

1) Grissom is a good player with a shot at being very good. It's a deal I would make every time, even in hindsight, and even if Sale is very good for the Braves for the next three years.

2) They only play the Braves four times this year. A GM who uses "Do we play this team during the regular season" as a question to decide whether or not a trade is good for the future of the team is a bad GM.

3) Not if, like last year, and the year before, and the year before.... he was injured at the trade deadline, no.

Also, don’t teams play all teams every year now ?

Pitching has not been this team’s problem.
There are plenty of questions to ask about this year’s team, but this one seems pretty easy to answer.

I think this was a very ballsy trade by Breslow, and it could work out great for the Sox, but you're making it sound like it'll be viewed as a good trade even if Sale stays healthy and puts up 3 top tier seasons for the Braves. That seems like a stretch. Needless to say the Braves would be incredibly lucky to get 3 seasons like that from Sale, but luck is often a huge factor in the success or failure of such moves.

2025 and 2026 are irrelevant to the trade. Sale was only under contract for this year when he was shipped out. Grissom just needs to be a good hitter for this to be a positive trade for the Red Sox. The pitching is fine, but the lineup needs some help.

For the sake of full information, his contract with the Sox included a vesting option for 2025 if he finished in the top 10 in 2024 AL Cy Young voting and was not on the IL at the end of the season.
