5/7: Verlander vs. Gil

NY got a much deserved day off Monday after 17 straight days playing, tonight HOU comes to town for 3, their second and final series this year. NY opened the year in HOU by sweeping four games behind a bunch of late rallies and 15.1 scoreless from the bullpen.

Neither Verlander nor Gil pitched in that opening series, both have pitched very well so far. Sadly Jasson Dominguez is not here to welcome Verlander as he did last September in his first MLB AB ever:

Gil has had great success with his FB in pretty much every game so far, the Astros will test him as they are the best at hitting 95+ in MLB so far this season.

Judge's AB against Verlander in the 3rd there was really good. Took all of the right pitches, and fouled off 2 tough fastballs at the very top of the zone to stay alive. I don't often see him having ABs like that off of righties that can locate fastball and breaking pitches

It feels so good to beat up on Verlander. After owning the Yankees for so long it looks like things have finally turned around as he gets old.

Haha, no one dominates us for 19 straight seasons! NO ONE!

But yes that was a truly beautiful thing, it reminded me of one of my favorite alltime Yankee/Red Sox regular season games. Verlander is 41 now, in August 2009 NY ended 42 year old John Smoltz's brief Red Sox career with an 8 run 4th also in Yankee Stadium, he was DFAd the next day. Only two HRs off Smoltz though...
