I wish my late friend Dan Mazzulla was still with us, to see his son Joe at age 35 lead his Celtics to the NBA Finals, totally out-coaching Rick Carlisle in crunch time of three games
No doubt Joe has his father with him in some way. Glad you got to see this. Watching the Boston defense tighten the screws and shut out Indiana over the last three and a half minutes was special. Four more wins please.

Too long until the finals start but I'll take it. KP and Kornet should be back close to full strength and Big Al can recharge after being overused. Also need Hauser to starting hitting shots..

Was that the closest deep in recent memory?

It didn’t feel like a sweep, but it’s a sweep. Circus shots galore by the Pacers this game. Seems like the C’s struggle maintaining focus at times and then will just smother a team defensively for half a quarter. Those last 3 1/2 minutes were a clinic.

Great to see Cornbread — wanted them to raise the mic and let the man stand up a bit! And Legler looks like a tanning bed raccoon, does he not? Goggle outlines look pretty prominent to me.

Jaylen was a bit of a ball stopper tonight but also delivered and played his ass off.

They need to get Hauser fixed and hopefully Porzingis can come back because we are really going to need him.

I have not been convinced by this team all year and I think they probably end up in a bunch of 7 game series if the path hasn’t gotten so injured but banners hang forever and none of that matters if they can execute in the finals now. They’ve gotten where they belong and they have plenty of time to rest any injuries. Now we hope Ant comes alive and Dallas has to sweat for a bit longer
If you weren't convinced by this year's team you'll never be convinced. That was one of the best regular seasons of all time. If KP wasn't hurt.. would the C's not have lost two games?

Edit: I mean.. they lost four games at home over the entire season.. had only 18 losses while also getting a ton of rest for a lot of their key players. They barely lost two games in a row all year.. I think they had a 20 point lead in 50% of their games? Won a number of games by 50.. i just don't get it. You need to show the math to 1. not be convinced 2. think that they'd go 7 if other teams didn't have a player or two hurt...especially when they had an injured player that makes a lot of what they do work.

The easy path to the Finals narrative is bs. This team has had horrible luck with injuries in the playoffs for years. About damn time it was the opponents for once.

Such a sigh of relief to exit this series seemingly unscathed by Nesmith who, while more refined than in his Celtics days, remains a total wrecking ball.

We’ll see in the Finals but all these games read to me like the Celtics were doing their best to conserve themselves within reason so they could absolutely dominate the 4th and it happened over and over again. They never got too down, never forced anything, just kept grinding.

Four more, and let’s get KP in on the fun.

I’m glad that both Jays now have a Larry Bird Trophy for his trophy case.

This series is what long time Celtics fans have been looking for: both JB and JT imposing their will on a playoff series, working together.

They gave the ball to JB to make the key offensive play tonight, and he made a brilliant drive and dish for the Whit3 go ahead shot,

If Luka’s knee goes tomorrow night it’ll be a tidal wave of a narrative, but I hear you

KG, Kendrick Perkins, Rondo etc. C's haven't had a ton of luck with injuries since 2008.

The crazier thing to me about the Finals schedule is not the huge gap before game 1, but rather that game seven is scheduled for twenty-seven days from now, four full weeks from yesterday!

Indiana was up 98-90 with 5:36 to go.
Indiana was up 102-98 with 3:33 to go.

Boston ended up on a 15-4 run in the last 5:36, and a 7-0 run in the last 3:33.
At 3:33 is when my son came downstairs to watch the end and I put the announcers on mute. You are all welcome.

Siakam and Nembhard have tellingly different comments - Nembhard saying they will learn from this and use it for when they're back next year.

Siakam saying it hurts and is hard because it's very difficult to get back - and it's never a guarantee, so that's why you have to take advantage when you can.

Siakam sounding like the one who has the championship ring for sure.

If someone has the last few minutes of the game on YT or whatever and can post it, would appreciate!

I could honestly use the break of the next 10 days. Rest, errands, parenting... all the things I've been ignoring.

There probably isn’t much Adam Silver can do to move up the Finals with the arenas schedules, but the Celtics potentially playing 7 games in the next 27 days is dumb.

I think they're both right?

Sure, nothing is guaranteed, everything could fall apart and guys could get hurt and never be the same but that whole team outside of Siakim is real young. I can't imagine this won't be a Celtics like situation where the young guys all learn from this failure and get better. It's not like they got whomped on every time. They legit just failed to execute in a bunch of 4th quarters.
