Eastern Conference playoff MVP is a better prize than 3rd team all NBA (once you have the contract at least :))

I wish my late friend Dan Mazzulla was still with us, to see his son Joe at age 35 lead his Celtics to the NBA Finals, totally out-coaching Rick Carlisle in crunch time of three games

Jrue looks like that kind of happy that is beyond smiling.

JB started the game 3-10 but still played great D, ended the game 8 for his last 12 and clutch plays on both ends. It’s been so gratifying watching him continue to improve.
Yeah this absolutely used to be the kind of game, especially on the road, that by the end of it you’d have the mouthbreathers popping in to say how bad he is then go jerk it to Felger.

He has really figured out how to force it without forcing it, if that makes sense. Now just need to work on his free throws over the break.

Wow Brown with the ECF MVP. I'm sure everyone is happy for that but...uh...no.

Tatum: 30.3 points, 10.3 rebounds, 6.3 assists, 1.3 steals, 0.5 blocks
Brown: 29.8 points, 5.0 rebounds, 3.0 assists, 2.0 steals, 0.8 blocks

Brown played great.
Tatum was better by almost every (not actually every, but almost every) measure.

These FINALS t-shirts would be much better if they had mid-1980s style caricatures of the starting five. Or were even simpler and just white and green with a prominent Stop & Shop or Roche Brothers logo.

Jaylen was a bit of a ball stopper tonight but also delivered and played his ass off.

They need to get Hauser fixed and hopefully Porzingis can come back because we are really going to need him.

I have not been convinced by this team all year and I think they probably end up in a bunch of 7 game series if the path hasn’t gotten so injured but banners hang forever and none of that matters if they can execute in the finals now. They’ve gotten where they belong and they have plenty of time to rest any injuries. Now we hope Ant comes alive and Dallas has to sweat for a bit longer

Man I really want AL to get a ring (or more) before he retires.

And fuck Kyrie.

Probably should have given White a question, especially since he hit the game winning shot!

No respect for DW

Someday I hope that a player prefaces their interview by saying, "I just want to say that there's no such thing as God and all of my success has come from hard work and dedication to my craft." and continues on to answering the question. It would be amazing and melt so many brains.

He hit that huge 3 in the previous game, hit a bunch of huge 3s tonight to keep Indiana from running away, and had a huge block late here I think it’s entirely justifiable

Yeah, no doubt Jaylen was great. I'm happy for him. Tatum was better.

Whatever. I don't care. The Celtics won and that's all that matters.

JB shot better IIRC (and defended better).

The Celtics late-game defense was the consistent story this series, and Brown (excepting the usual great performances by Jrue and White) was huge on that side of the ball this series. I don't think it was as clear-cut as the rebound/assist numbers make it appear.

Seven straight wins, one postseason? Ties a Celtic record with 1986. Also the only other year they've swept the penultimate round in a seven-game series.

Fuck yeah. For Bill Walton.

The job isn't done until four more wins. They look as satisfied as they did when they locked up #1. Nothing even close to enjoy quite yet. I love it.

The thought just occurred to me—-these last 2 games were games I used to watch the LeBron Heat or Cavs beat us with. They knew they could win any game and made every big play on both ends to pull out games they may struggle in.

We are that team now.

Not the most scientific metric but JB clearly had the edge after the signature moment of G1 and the 40-piece in G2. Several key plays on both ends late tonight and was scoring all 2nd half. I think it was a fair win.

No question they faced teams missing some key guys. But all you can do is play the team in front of you and 12-2 is pretty damn good.

It was great to see them execute so so well late in three of these Indiana games…JB, Tatum, Jrue, and tonight White, game 3 Al. Just a great team effort in this series - without KP, with little from Hauser, meh from PP.

The clutch shot in game 1 is a reasonable tie breaker

In honor of Walton's '86 team, let's beat a team from Texas in the Finals.

I really want THIS team to win it. More than two years ago. And I REALLY wanted that team to win it.

Get KP back, hit the threes, and make tonight the last competitive game of the season.

This Celtics team hasn't had a ton of blowouts this postseason, but they've been master closers. I hope that gets brought up over the next week when everyone talks breathlessly about how amazing at closing games out the Mavs are.
