Oops, sorry, b2b2b. Add Eddy Alvarez to the party.

The run of CJ Liu dominance ended with a 4-run 1st.
Liu pitched a scoreless 2nd & then gave way to Helcris Olivarez.

His 1st 4 innings went quite smoothly & he had not allowed any runs. Wheels started to fall off in his 5th inning, though, with the help of some bad defense.

Final line:

4.1 IP
3 runs
1 ER
2 hits
4 bb
1 hbp
1 wp
6 k

Helcris has some of the oddest stats you'll see so far this season...

26.1 IP
13 runs (4.44 RPG)
7 ER (2.39 ERA)
9 hits (.108 BA)
34 bb (11.6 bb/9)
6 hbp (2.1 hbp/9)
32 k (10.9 k/9)

6.01 FIP, 6.15 xFIP

Alex Hoppe pitched the last 2.2 innings, allowing 1 run.

Portland lost 8-3.

Mayer is going to be in Worcester by mid June, right? Really glad to see he's seemingly fully healthy and his downturn was likely injury related.

6 up, 6 down so far for Winckowski.
Things went downhill from here with an unearned run in the 3rd & Winck leaving with the bases loaded & 1 out in the 4th.

Bailey Horn (0.2 IP, 0 runs, 1 hit) allowed 2 of the 3 inherited runners to score.

Winck final line:

3.1 IP
3 runs
2 ER
3 hits
1 bb
4 k

67 pitches, 46 strikes (68.7%)

After Horn, Justin Hagenman struggled (3 ER in 2 IP, & Luis Guerrero successfuly walked a bit of a tightrope (1.2 IP, 0 runs, 2 hits, 1 bb, 3 k).

Ryan Zeferjahn came in to get the last out of the 8th, hitting a guy before Connor Norby grounded out.

He came back out for the 9th with an 8-6 lead after Worcester scored 3 in the bottom of the 8th, & retired the 1st 2 hitters on a flyout & a strikeout... but then the wheels fell off:

Walk
Single
HBP
Single (8-8)
Single (9-8)

The last single came from Jackson Holliday. Runner was thrown out at 3rd to end the inning.

WooSox lost 9-8.

Idk, if I ran the team? Probably.

& yeah, the demarcation line of pre & post shoulder injury was super clear once it was revealed.
