G-BATS season debut. Not sure if that nickname works for a pitcher?

Zach Bryant got the start & made his 2nd rehab appearance, pitching a scoreless inning with a hit, a hbp & a strikeout.

Then Gilberto Batista made his much anticipated (by me) FCL debut & pitched a 1-2-3 2nd with 2 strikeouts.

Now The Generator is in for the 3rd.

The FCL Sox scored 4 in the 1st & have a 4-0 lead.

Van Der Schaaf pitched 2 scoreless innings, 2 hits, 2 strikeouts.

Diego Hernandez still has no idea where the ball is going unfortunately, though.

I was looking at Devers & he spent his entire 18 y/o season in A-Ball.

Last year Johanfran had 139 FCL PAs before being promoted & Yuten had 164. But Cespedes is a higher rated prospect & is relatively older than both.

They both had wRC+ in the 130s when they were promoted. Cespedes was at 107 prior to today in 43 PAs.

Diego allowed a single & walked 4, only recording 1 out & allowing 2 runs.

Jesus Garcia got out of the jam & pitched 1.2 scoreless on 2 hits & a walk with 2 strikeouts.

& then they ran out of good pitchers & Cristofer Soriano & Yonfi Rodriguez combined to allow 8 runs in the 7th & final inning & blow an 8-2 lead.

They are batting in the bottom of the 7th down 10-8.

FCL Red Sox lost 10-8. Still waiting for season debuts from Chansol Lee & Nicholas Judice, but glad to see Gilberto out there.

The hit was reclassified as an error.

Bryant turns 26 in 10 days or so & when last healthy pitched 33 not-so-good AA innings in '22. Would expect him to return to Portland when done rehabbing.

I started this discussion in the Portland thread... but this start is not going to help Dobbins' chances of being the next promotion after Penrod...

It was better than Jacob Webb who allowed 3 runs in 2 innings.

Felix Cepeda got the last 2 outs to end the top of the 7th. Portland up 13-11.

Felix Cepeda allowed an unearned run in the 9th, but Portland won 17-12.

Cepeda gave them 2.2 IP without an earned run on 2 hits, 0 bb & struck out 5, picking up his 9th save.

Kwiatkowski picked up the win. In 12 games between AA & AAA this year, he is 7-0.

Jason Alexander allowed 4 runs, 3 ER in 6 innings on 10 hits, striking out 4.

Isaiah Campbell pitched a scoreless inning in his 2nd rehab outting with a hit & a strikeout.

BVB allowed a run in the top of the 8th & Worcester has scored 2 in the bottom of the 8th to tie the game at 5.

Singles by Dalbec, Westbrook, Kavadas & Alvarez.

ERC apparently doesn't like coming out of the bullpen. He allowed 5 runs, 2 earned, in 3 innings, & only threw 28 strikes in 57 pitches.

Francis Hernandez allowed a run in 3 IP & in 2 IP Natty Cruz allowed the Manfred Man to score & Salem lost 8-7 in 10 innings.
