Not a good looking pitching line for Mullins, but good to know the pitches were nice.

4 IP
4 ER
3 hits
2 bb
1 hbp
7 k

82 pitches, 46 strikes (56.1%)

Of course, none of Greenville's other pitchers beat Mullins 9.00 ERA this game either...

Nathan Landry allowed 1 run in 1 inning (on 2 hits & 2 walks).

Isaac Stebens allowed 4 runs, 3 earned in 2 innings.

& Cade Feeney allowed 3 runs in 2 innings.

Greenville down 12-5 headed to the bottom of the 9th.

I know when one of our teams did it earlier this year it was so school kids could take a field trip & be back to school in time for pick up. Which is kind of a cool idea. I would have loved that as a kid.

They're playing at 705 Wednesday, Thursday, Friday; 605 Saturday; & 135 Sunday.
I used to take my 7th graders when Colorado Springs had a AAA team. It was an end of the year celebration trip. I would teach the kids to score a game and then we would do some math with the stats. Fun time.

The Greenville offense really is Campbell, sometimes Tyler Miller and everyone else.
Campbell has been really impressive in this first month. One thing I hadn’t grasped is how much 2b he has played, as I thought he was going to be playing almost all CF.

I’m figuring it’s been injury beds on the roster, but so far he’s played more 2b so far.
One of the bigger risers in the system this year, easy. I hope they let him cook, figure out a position, before feeling any need to push him to Portland. Maybe late in the summer, if he’s still doing well.

It'll be interesting to see how his usage changes when Mikey Romero gets into the lineup & when Cutter Coffey gets back.

I expected him to play mostly LF & some 2B.

In college last year:

2B - 16 games
LF - 6 games
CF - 1 game

With the Red Sox last year:

2B - 15 games
LF - 8 games (including all 4 playoff games)
RF - 2 games

This year it's been all CF, 2B & DH, with a bit more of the 2B work coming lately:

DH, 2B, DH, CF, CF, 2B, 2B, 2B, CF, 2B, 2B, CF, DH, CF, 2B, 2B, 2B, DH, 2B, CF, DH, 2B, 2B, CF

2B - 12
CF - 7
DH - 5

But yeah, with Mikey (& maybe Coffey), plus Ravelo & Liendo, the IF gets a bit more crowded.

Yorke getting promoted would create a nice natural spot in Portland for Campbell to play 2B. & if Mayer gets promoted Paulino would shift to playing more SS, freeing up room for Yorke & KCamp to play a lot of 2B/LF (which they would have to share with Lugo unless any of the 3 can play RF... definitely not Yorke).

Not much room in CF in Portland unless Roman gets promoted, though.

There is a decent opening at 1B in Portland with only Binelas & Gasper really playing there with Blaze out, so that might mean a Tyler Miller promotion.

On the other end, I think it's about time for a BLEIS promotion, or maybe Jhostynxon. Bleis would almost certainly kick Campbell to a corner OF spot in Greenville. Jhostynxon should be the better defender, but they wouldn't prioritize him the same way they would Bleis.

Romero as the 2b makes a lot of sense so far as impact to Campbell. I had been thinking that Romero had been drafted as a SS and would continue there, but in his limited play last year and 2022, it’s almost exclusively already at 2b.

Maybe there should be a promotion speculation thread (aware you have the news-y thread), but I had been trying to figure out a chain of promotions that made sense in the next month or so.

Yorke to AAA, Castro to AA, Bleis to High A makes some sense, but the behind the scenes data on those three would have to be better than the public data.

Or Campbell continues to show out, and jumps Castro and takes an OF spot. I think they wait a little longer than June on Campbell. Then see if another Portland IF moves up or out.

Anyone is always welcome to start new threads. You know I'm always down for some rampant unsupported promotion speculation.
