Rotation watch...

Salem

Last week:
Tuesday - ERC
Wednesday - LuCo
Thursday - Paez
Friday - Dean + O'Donnell
Saturday - Wehunt
Sunday - Duffy

This week projections:
Tuesday - LuCo
Wednesday - Paez
Thursday - Dean + O'Donnell
Friday - Wehunt
Saturday - Duffy
Sunday - ERC

I kind of expect someone to be promoted, though, probably ERC. If so, I would think O'Donnell would just start Friday, Wehunt Saturday & Duffy Sunday.

Greenville

Last week:
Tuesday - Early
Wednesday - Mullins
Thursday - Perales
Friday - Rogers
Saturday - JDE
Sunday - Adams

This week projections:
Tuesday - Mullins
Wednesday - Perales
Thursday - Rogers
Friday - JDE
Saturday - Adams
Sunday - Early

Stylistically, Wehunt may make more sense as a call up because they could just put him on Friday & do JDE + Adams on Saturday.

I'd of course love to see a Paez promotion personally...

Portland

Last week:
Tuesday - Bello + Helcris (Bellcris?)
Wednesday - Dobbins
Thursday - Bastardo
Friday - Wikelman
Saturday - Coffey
Sunday - Penrod

This week projection:
Tuesday - Dobbins
Wednesday - Bastardo
Thursday - Wikelman
Friday - Coffey
Saturday - Penrod
Sunday - Helcris

Not sure anyone from the Greenville rotation is ready for a promotion... but I'd love it if they thought Perales was ready, & then Penrod could go to AAA.

Worcester

Last week:
Tuesday - Gambrell
Wednesday - BVB + Shugart (DH)
Thursday - Alexander
Friday - Uwasawa + Hagenman
Saturday - Fitts
Sunday - Gambrell

This week projection:
Tuesday - Winckowski + Shugart
Wednesday - Whitlock + Alexander
Thursday - Uwasawa + Hagenman
Friday - Fitts
Saturday - Gambrell
Sunday - Winckowski

This one is a total guess other than Whitlock tomorrow. Winckowski hasn't pitched since an inning on the 8th, though, so I think it makes sense to get him out there today.

Alexander is the probable starter today but meh. I projected piggybacks for Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday just for fun, & BVB is on the dev list.

I wonder whose bright idea it was to have an 11:05 AM game on a Tuesday. Maybe they're trying to set a new record for MILB low attendance? I would have tried to make it over to the game if it was later in the day, the Augusta stadium is really nice for a minor league ballpark.

Apropos of nothing, I was looking at some Bailey/Houck stuff from this off season & feel great about my optimism about both.

& feel even better about doing all my posting here now <3

I know when one of our teams did it earlier this year it was so school kids could take a field trip & be back to school in time for pick up. Which is kind of a cool idea. I would have loved that as a kid.

They're playing at 705 Wednesday, Thursday, Friday; 605 Saturday; & 135 Sunday.

That is, in fact, what the promotion is. Education Day, according to their schedule.

We used to do it at the park I worked at. Great day, but also madness, LOL

You know what, you're right. I just checked out the team's website and today is Education Day/Field Trip Day at the ballpark. That's pretty cool.

I hadn't been bothering to try to figure out the FCL Sox rotation, but Chris Hatfield put this together when speculating if Yordanny would pitch today:

5/4 Jerez
5/5 OFF
5/6 Salcedo/Portes
5/7 De La Cruz/Vargas
5/8 OFF
5/9 Monegro/Liu
5/10 Bates
5/11 Van der Schaaf opening for Jerez
5/12 OFF
5/13 Mata/Salcedo/Portes
5/14?
5/15 OFF
Nicolas De La Cruz got the start. Hatfield was speculating that Yordanny may do sim work tomorrow instead, but I think the most likely thing is he just starts on Thursday & then jumps into the Greenville rotation the week after if everything goes smoothly.

Everyone seems to be on a once a week schedule for now there anyway.

FCL Red Sox up 1-0 after the 1st on an Arias double & Musett RBI single.

Musett is now hitting .474.

9-19 with 5 walks & 2 strikeouts.

Musett had 30 walks & 23 strikeouts in the DSL last season.

Nicolas De La Cruz pitched 2 scoreless innings on 2 hits, a walk & 2 strikeouts.

The good news is Diego Hernandez, who was acquired from the Yankees for Greg Allen last season while rehabbing from TJ is making his Red Sox debut.

The bad news is he walked the 1st 3 hitters so far...

Diego struck out the 4th hitter & then was taken out for Denis Reguillo who induced an inning ending GIDP to save Diego’s ERA.

Salem had excellent performances from 2 pitchers:

Luis Cohen (win):

5 IP
0 runs
3 hits
1 bb
2 hbp
3 k

74 pitches, 42 strikes (56.8%)

On the season, Cohen has a 3.38 ERA in 29.1 innings with 9 bb, 24 k & a 1.09 WHIP.

Michael Sansone (save):

4 IP
0 runs
1 hit
1 bb
7 k

43 pitches, 31 strikes (72.1%)

Since being acquired not long ago, Sansone has an 0.69 ERA in 13 innings with 2 bb, 16 k & a 0.69 WHIP. Might be about time to move the 24 y/o lefty to the Greenville pen soon. Salem has a lot of pitchers who seem promotable but Greenville does not, which creates a bit of a logjam. The season is still young, though.

Salem won 5-0.

AA was 0-2 with 3 walks.

Jhostynxon & Viloria were 0-3 with 1 walk.

This is from Chris Hatfield:

Looks like skips for Paez and Dean this week. Ingrassia gets a start tomorrow and O'Donnell Thursday. Very interested to see if they think about stretching Ingrassia out after the start to the season he's had, although my guess is he goes max 3 in a bullpen game.
https://forum.soxprospects.com/thread/7371/5-14-gameday-thread-low

Hopefully this means a Paez promotion & not Paez pain (although it could just mean a Paez piggyback).

JoJo went from closing to being stretched out & went 3 innings on May 4th & again on May 9th. He should be good for 4 or 5 tomorrow if he's pitching well. He's been pitching so dominantly it makes sense to try to stretch him out even further & put him in the rotation. Especially if we're going to see some promotions from the Paez/ERC/Wehunt group.

The O'Donnell/Dean thing could be as simple as changing which one is piggybacking for the other... the 2 literally combined for 9 no-hit innings last week.

According to Hatfield it's Alexander, Whitlock, Uwasawa, Fitts, Gambrell, TBD.

I wonder if that means Winck pitches a couple innings today & gets the start on Sunday.

Chad Tracy said it’s most likely Alexander on Sunday but will see how many Winck goes after Whitlock on Wednesday. Ideal scenario would be him getting 4 innings, per Tracy.

Thx! Yup, that makes sense if no Winck until tomorrow figured they would want to get him in today since he hasn't pitched in a while.

They haven't been in any rush to get Pablo or Joely into a game either, though.
