The ball hit his glove. Did the trainer come out to check the glove?
I think what we are seeing is the understanding that they can buy some time for the pitcher to get a blow after a play like that by going out to check on him.
I anticipate this will be happening more and more to skirt clock rules

I knew I should have held my pee during the last commercial break. I came back and bottom of the 8th was over.

I don't see the dumping on Tapia and McG as pinch hitters. Look at what Devers has done in the game. The stinkage is team wide, but it starts with the pitching, which we all expected to be less than stellar. Maybe not this much less, though.

This team needed a good start to the season to keep the toxic energy from the fans and media building up.
Instead, this is an awful start so the vibe is only going to get worse.

This is about what I expected going into this season. The lineup will perform when everyone is “on” but they’ll collectively slump together and the offense will only be as good as the pitching. Both sides play just well enough to lose.

Is the plan to just not even try to do anything about the running game this year? Were the Sox not informed of this years rule changes?

this guy has been eminently hittable for the course of his career. Just need Yoshida to stop hitting ground balls...

Youk showing his potential as a color guy there -- he was right on that play and what the fielder should do.

If he learns to let the game breathe a bit and fall into fewer rambling stories, he could be quite good.

Agreed, his potential is good and he will grow into the job.
