5th game of the season for both teams, both teams using their 5th SP so far. For PHI, it is reliever Matt Strahm who Sox fans know well, who is supposedly able to go 65 pitches tonight, just his second start since 2019. For NY, it is Domingo German, NY's #3 SP currently with 3 guys ahead of him out.

7 PM EST, for some reason this is on TBS.

Volpe's inability to turn an easy DP has cost NY two runs so far this inning, 4-0 PHI, top 5.

Should we go back to one game thread per series? Not much participation here so far this season.

He has had around three disappointing plays this season. I guess I am expecting him to make every play. So we watch and readjust expectations.

He is going to make a fantastic second baseman once they promote Peraza.

Volpe leads off the sixth, time for the offense to wake up.

I've been reading most of the threads but haven't been around as much in general. I think going back to one thread per series during the regular season would work pretty well given our modest numbers.

Volpe seems to have trouble with hard stuff inside. He chased one inside off Alvarado for strike three.
He's maybe a bit anxious but Alvarado blew away DJ and Judge right after that also, just not NY's night.

OK, so then to make the transition smoothly, NY needs to come back tonight and let me finish this series tomorrow. :)

Hicks is still a good defensive LF when he tries, maybe start with doing that more consistently if you want more playing time.

Even if they don't pull this one out, I think you should just keep this thread going for tomorrow and then see if they can win this series so you can start the next one.

Smooth transition either way then, :)

Judge keeps his 38 game on base streak alive with the 9th inning walk, back to last August.

Come on Donaldson, make NY love you.

Ah well, maybe show up before the ninth next time.

Heh, after this stinker I am definitely done, we have crafty vet @terrynever up next for Cole/Nola, a win and he can start the next series, @BAL. A loss and someone else can take that, I only have so many innings in me... :)
