7:05 p.m.: A+ - Greesboro @ Greenville (Early)

In honor of NFL Draft Day, I will try to include how each player was originally acquired the 1st time I mention them on Thursday.

All starters are as expected, & I would expect BVB for Worcester.

Speaking of the draft, I have heard this year's draft is heavily weighted toward college hitters. I'm really hoping we can get some stud pitcher who can help in a couple of years. Or after Houck and Kutter go down lol.

But it will be interesting to see if the drafting philosophy changes & they start prioritizing higher end pitching prospects rather than higher end hitting prospects with pitching being strictly a low risk #s game.

Nazzan is leading off & playing SS for Salem. He picked up a single to start the game.

Bleis not in the lineup after coming out early last game.

...& I really don't have time to live up to the promise in the OP right now...soooo... later.

Natty Yuten hit a 3-run homer & Nick Yorke hit a 2-run homer...

...& I see videos of neither of them so far. Probably an anti-NY bias.

Elih Marrero struck out all 3 times he batted in his AAA debut, but hit a 2-run homer in his 2nd PA today.

Karson Simas is playing above high-A for the 1st time & singled in each of his 1st 2 PAs.

Nazzan was 2-2 with 2 singles before being pinch hit for. I assume this is one of those times where they take out a guy early in his 1st game back out in the field & not an injury.

Trennor O'Donnell came in & allowed hits to the 1st 2 batters, but then retired the next 6, striking out 5 of them.

Max Carlson pitched a 1-2-3 8th with 2 strikeouts & is back out for 9th to try to close out a 3-1 lead.

Nazzan was 2-2.

Yute was 1-4 with the 3-run homer which accounted for all the runs.

Andy Lugo was 2-4 with a double.

Nelly T was 1-3 with a walk.

Freili was 1-4 with a steal.

Pitching-wise, BVB looked like he was headed to his best start of the season, allowing 2 runs in 5 innings, but they sent him back out for the 6th & he allowed b2b doubles.

Jorge Benitez allowed the inherited runner to score, & allowed a run of his own in the 7th inning (raising his ERA to 1.38), but he did strike out 5.

Luis Guerrero pitched a 1-2-3 8th & is back out for the 9th... which started walk/single.

Zeferjahn allowed 2 unearned runs in 2 innings, but kept his ERA at 0.00. 2 hits, 1 bb, 4 k.

Alex Hoppe in for the 8th with a 3-2 lead.

Guerrero fell behind the next hitter 3-0, but came back & struck him out, struck the next hitter out...& then walked the bases loaded.

Karson Simas...who had a 33 wRC+ in High-A this season... went 2-3 with a walk & a steal in his AAA debut.

Marrero was 2-4 with a homer & a double.

Westbrook was 2-5 with 2 doubles.

Grissom was 1-4 with a double.

Alvarez came in as a defensive sub for Grissom in the eighth & got a double.

Niko was 1-3 with a walk.

Kolozsvary was 1-4.

Meidroth was 1-5.

Portland only had 3 position players on their bench to start the game today...

Roman came in as a pinch runner for the DH in the 9th.

Alex Hoppe went 6 up, 6 down to save the 3-2 win.

Blaze was 3-4 with a double.

Yorke was 1-4 with a homer.

Sikes was 1-3 with a walk.

Decker was 1-4 with a double.

Greenville lost 11-1.

The good news?

Zach Fogell faced the last 4 hitters, got them all out & struck out 3 of them.

Castro & Ugueto were each 2-4 with a double.

Miller was 1-3 with a walk.

KCamp was 1-4.
