Now we just need Peraza to get his chance, or is he trade bait?
I fervently hope Peraza hits well enough that they want to keep him.

I'm still hoping Gleyber finds a new home NLT this next off-season and that feeling is only intensified with his current slump. He's not consistent enough. I don't expect them to get rid of Donaldson this year, but I wouldn't mind DJ settling in at 3rd next season and watching an infield of DJ, Volpe, Peraza and Rizzo. Don't care which of Volpe/Peraza plays SS or 2B.

Given his plate discipline, I'm confident that Volpe will get better and better at the plate, so I don't think Peraza needs to tear the cover off of the ball or anything. Being a defense-first infielder is fine. But showing enough offensive potential at the MLB level so the Yankees feel confident in building around him and Volpe up the middle would be wonderful. Great for the defense. Great for managing future payroll.

I'm pretty sure that is what the Yankees want too. Peraza just needs to show enough in what may be limited opportunities this year.

Depending on how fast/much he develops this year, Peraza taking over the IKF utility role full time next year would be OK too. But I'm hoping for more than that.

Judge's normal ground ball single was the hardest hit ball that inning by far at 114.4 MPH (!). Also his hardest hit ball of the season thus far.

Bases-loaded double by Trevino keys 5-run first inning. Good to see Jose’s bat waking up lately.

Listening to the first radio game of the year. Sterling sounding good as ever. I remember a couple years back he was sounding like he couldn't even put a sentence together. I know his time is coming but I still enjoy listening to him.

Nestor with six strong innings and he might not be done. Freaking awesome.

Score some more runs and put this game away.

Love DJ. Love him. Drives in an important run with a double. 2nd and 3rd with no outs.

More runs please.

IKF comes through!

Two run single. And that on top of some decent CF play. Good day for him and he sure needed one.

Cabrera is off to a slow start, sure. But I think there is deader weight to focus on.

Guys who don't have his potential. Calhoun and Hicks should go first. Just eat the money on Hicks if you have to. Sunk cost.

Yeah, Cabrera's not going anywhere even if he hasn't hit much yet this year.

Love looking at the season ERAs for the relievers used today:

Marinaccio: 1.04
Wandy: 1.23
Hamilton: 1.69
Weissert: 0.00

Calhoun is definitely first off the roster, a DH who can't hit much with two better options in AAA for that spot if they need (Bauers and Chaparro).
