Well, I think I left out “empty net play” as one of the opportunities of this team in my pre-game post. That was an oversight on my part, these guys just do dumb stuff when the goalie isn’t there.
Pasta has had too many boneheaded plays this year, guess not having Bergy to hold him accountable is a big part of it
They better find their game quick or they are going to get stomped no matter who they play in the playoffs
Encouraging 18.5 minutes of play in the third period. If they bring that to the playoffs, for entire games, they should do well.
This game meant nothing. Going balls out to set a record last year did them no favors. Just go in healthy.
I hate when he does this, just say something along the lines of "we have to do better." I think in this day and age calling out players in the media for one bad play is bad practice, but you can't completely try to rid the guy of any fault when he obviously has some. It reminds me back to I think either the game 5 or 6 loss in the playoff last year when he came to the podium and immediately started talking about how great of a game it was. No one gave a shit how good a game it was, we lost, be pissed we lost, don't admire their win
Yeah... I don't it really mattered either way with Toronto or Tampa. I don't think they were trying to "pick" their opponent more than it was Game 81 and 82 of a season where they were pretty locked into position, and the real goal is to stay as healthy as you can for the playoffs.
I'm assuming he's saying it wasn't Pastrnak and someone else was supposed to be there. Zacha, for example, looks to be very late on curling up and I assume where Pasta was trying to go. Just speculating but my guess is he meant someone else f'd up than trying to protect Pasta.
It did look like the intended recipient of the pass didn't realize it was coming and skated away from the puck instead of toward it.
Kinda feels like @cshea should be starting the Game 1 game thread even though he also started this one.
