Kelly pitched a scoreless 6th with 2 walks & a strikeout. Only 8 strikes in 20 pitches.

Cam Booser in for the 7th, still up 2-0.

WooSox aren't exactly doing anything for their old player image with the 29 y/o Kelly or the 31 y/o Booser.

Booser pitched a 1-2-3 7th with a strikeout. 10 pitches, 8 strikes. Wouldn't be surprised to see him back out for the 8th.

Booser allowed 2 runs in the 8th on a single, a HBP & a double.

Heineman led off the top of the 9th with a double & Corey Rosier came in to pinch run.

Kolozsvary walk, Guthrie flyout, Blizzard strikeout, Meidroth's 3rd bb of the season.

Bases loaded 2 outs for Sogard...& a wild pitch scores a run to give WooSox 3-2 lead. Then Sogard hit a single scoring 2 more.

Sogard was 2-5 with a double.

Meidroth was 1-4 with a walk.

Blizzard was 1-5 with a homer (#2).

Westbrook & Contreras were 1-3 with a walk, Contreras had 2 steals.

Kolozsvary was 0-2 with 2 walks.

Heineman & Guthrie were 1-4.

Romy was 0-4 with a sac fly.

WooSox won 6-2.

Jason Alexander pitched 4 innings & allowed 2 runs on 3 hits, 0 walks, 4 strikeouts.

Justin Hagenman, who I kind of expect to be stretched out & added to the AAA rotation, retired all 9 hitters he faced including 2 strikeouts, & picked up the win.

Lucas Luetge struck out 2 of 3 hitters in a scoreless 8th.

AJ Politi allowed a hit in a scoreless 9th.

Niko was 1-2 with 2 walks.

Sogard was 1-4 with a walk.

Alvarez was 1-3 with a double & a HBP.

Guthrie was 1-4 with a double.

That wouldn't be surprising. It's how they used him last year from 8/12 on. Each of his last 11 appearances for Worcester was between 1.2 & 3.1 IP.

I was kind of thinking they would try to stretch him out even further & have him able to start. With the Dodgers AAA team last year he had 3 4-inning appearances & a 5-inning start.

He's definitely more potentially interesting than Jason Alexander, but they may expect Uwasawa to fill that slot fairly soon.

They are up against the very expensive AAA pitcher, Yariel Rodriguez (5/$32m) who the Blue Jays signed out of Cuba by way of Japan.

YRod struck out 2 of 3 in the 1st inning (not Meidroth).

Criswell has pitched 2 scoreless innings, 1 hit & 1 strikeout.

That's two games out of four with Gonzalez at first base, a position he hadn't played since 2019 in A ball. I wonder how long before he's in Boston and Bobby Dalbec is back in Worcester.

Criswell is featuring a sinker (around 89), sweeper (around 75 mph) & a changeup (around 83 mph).

His fastest pitches so far are 90.2 mph in the 1st inning. He has allowed b2b singles to start off the 3rd.

Criswell got put of the jam with a strikeout & a GIDP.

He already made an error there today, but it definitely seems like something they are trying to figure out whether it will play.

I'm guessing Grissom is back before they would pull the trigger on that, but who knows? He is already on the 40, so no real harm in seeing what they have.

I guess the other option is that when Grissom comes back, Valdez & Dalbec go down, Romy comes up.

Sorry, also a cutter around 84. He threw it to the 1st batter of the game, & to induce the double play.

So, the good news is, Criswell has pitched 5 scoreless innings, & Meidroth drew a walk in the 4th against Rodriguez, & Rodriguez was taken out of the game after 4 innings.

The bad news is it's 0-0 after 5 innings & the WooSox don't have any hits, & Joe Jacques is in for the 6th.

Jacques allowed a hit & picked up a strikeout in a scoreless 6th, lowering his ERA to 54.00.

Kelly pitched a 1-2-3 7th & Benitez pitched a 1-2-3 8th with a strikeout.

0-0 b8. Red Sox have 1 single by Contreras, which led off the 8th.

Worcester had 1st & 2nd 0 out in the 8th, but squandered (sac bunt, groundball out at the plate, fly out).

Benitez pitched another 1-2-3 inning t9 with 2 more strikeouts.

Hickey walked with 2 outs in the bottom of the 9th (Westbrook ran for Hickey) followed by a Romy single. 1st & 2nd. Contreras up with a chance to win the game.

They ended up scoring 2 in the top of the 10th.

Worcester went down 1-2-3 in the 10th & lost 2-0.

Contreras & Romy were 1-4.

Meidroth, Sogard & Hickey were 0-3 with a walk. Unfortunately Hickey struck out the other 3 times.

Good outings from Criswell, Kelly & Benitez are encouraging at least.
