I think you can believe that this pick kind of sucks without thinking the sky is falling or considered the new regime a complete failure already.

People here have opinions about Caedean Wallace? Really? Be honest, when was the first time you ever heard of him? Also, how much have you seen of him?
You’re right, I walk back some of my histrionics. I just was hoping they would move up before the OT run, but who knows if that was even possible.

Why is he doing a press conference while the draft is happening? Are they just closing down shop for the night?
That would have been an amazing question to ask in the press conference. I get Sean Payton or Kevin O'Connell doing a quick 5 minute interview between picks, but calling it quits for the night and talking to the media is a little weird.

Edit: after further review there wasn't much difference after all. Nothing to see here!

Sure maybe they could've moved up for the BYU kid but i agree with some who are happy they are actually addressing needs . Polk was a very minor reach. Just keep loading up depth on Offense for Maye

They wanted Wallace, didn’t think they could still get him with moving back - what more do you want?

This thread is falling apart because of goddamn Caeden Wallace.

On the plus side, it's looking like we'll have value sitting at 103 and 110.

It was an 8 minute interview. They don’t have a pick until tomorrow.

Pats three biggest needs going into the draft:

QB - check
WR - check
OT - check

Honestly, I don’t think I’ve ever seen the Pats do this in a draft and I’ve been following the team since 1976.

What is the massive reach? Wallace isn't, he was a 3rd/4th round guy most places, and once you get past like 50 the error bars on this stuff are pretty huge... and the league thinks differently.

As to KC.... why would you want to draft like KC? They have had 3 pretty terrible drafts out of the last 4? If they didn't have Mahomes they'd be a mess.

PHI.... meh, they go for the flashy picks, but honestly it's often more name than game, their defense was a mess last year and their best players are mostly trades or drafted years ago.

I want to draft like GB... take good players you believe in, don't worry about what other people think, develop and re-sign.
KC has drafted multiple impact starters each of the last 4yrs. Not sure where you are coming up with terrible drafts. One year they didn't have a 1st and every year they were drafting late. 2020 Snead, Willie Gay Jr. 2021 Nick Bolton, Creed Humphrey Trey Smith, 2022 was bonkers, Trent McDuffie (traded from NE), George Karlaftis, Leo Chenal, Pacheco 2023 Rashee Rice.

NE hasn't come close to that level of success in the 2020s.

He was asked that, no, he just jumped on and took like 4 or 5 questions then jumped off, said they are still monitoring how things fall and could jump in if they think it makes sense.
I mean he did an 8 minute update. It’s not like he took 3 hours. A lot of GMs were interviewed last night. Part of the gig.
Jets guys did it too
Still seems weird — but if that’s what they do, that’s what they do.

right. Everyone doesn’t know shit.

I guess the difference is some people just say “hey this is based off of the rankings” while other people are snarky and just outright dicks. Just like you, who somehow called me a fucking asshole out of all of this
We've been asked to cut the attacks. I'm not getting into it with you anymore.

Isaiah Adams went 71.... so yeah, the NFL's take on OT is not showing to be the same as ESPN or the like, Suamataia going mid 60s, Wallace, Coleman, Adams late 60s to 70s.... the messy middle of the OT class means if you like a guy you gotta grab him.

I don't know shit about college football players beyond watching occasional games. But I do know what the Patriots need in a general sense and agreed, they addressed their top needs.
Sounds like a fairly safe and relatively conservative path for the new front office. We will know in a couple of years if it was a good draft or a bad draft.
Hey, let's get a sleeper TE somehow. (wish casting)

That’s a very good point. Can’t argue with the positional value process there

our own @SMU_Sox had him rated 1 spot behind Kingsley if it makes you guys feel better
Yeah but I don't have a starting grade on him. This was a massive reach and imo a shitty pick. It might work out for him to be a low level LT or an average RT. I don't think so. I hate this pick. He was like 186 on the consensus board. Polk was a reach by a round. He is a reach by 2-3 rounds. What the fuck is going on tonight. So disappointed.

Fuck Wolf. Two reaches. I like Polk enough to not be too mad about it but Wallace is criminal at 68. What are we doing?

But everyone was just starting to get along again
Lmao. I was just cooling down.

in all honesty, none of us know anything. SMU does the work so I respect his opinion a lot, but who knows.

ideally, you move down and take Wallace. But then again you hope the Pats have good intel on who is going to take who

I think the thing I'm still most irritated about is they got so little extra capital to trade back from 34 compared to what CAR and others got.
Just didn't play their hand well at all.

We can only applaud good picks. For bad picks we need to wait 2 years to make sure it doesn't work out before complaining, or tut tut tut tut...

I think you weren't talking into account that Wallace's brother was an "oyster scientist, or something".

Wolf strikes me as pretty chalk/vanilla, so I'm surprised they are reaching. Still time for redemption in R4.

COnsensus board on O-line appears to be WILDLY off guys in the 40s to the 80s all went in the 60s, guys deep into the 100s went in the late 60s to 70s. I think the consensus just wildly underestimated the appetite across the league for O-line compared to other positons.
