Hagen Smith of Arkansas just struck out 17 in 6 scoreless on 78 pitches. Good god.

Top 10 matchup in Fayetteville tonight/weekend between Tigers and Hogs. Damn too many sports events at the same time today/weekend.

Hagen Smith with another awesome start. 6 innings, 5 hits, 2 runs, 0 BB, 10 K. On the year, he's only given up 6 runs in 35 IP with 72 K's to 10 walks. Hitters are batting .136 against him. Their staff as a whole is ridiculously good. Brady Tygart is 3-0 with a 1.59 ERA in 28.1 IP. His stats are on par with Hagen Smith but with 1 less start. Mason Molina brings up the "rear" on the weekend rotation. 3-0 with a 2.57 ERA(47 K's and .133 BAA).

Tonight's game is on the SEC Network at 8 if y'all get that.

I am so unhappy with the Longhorn baseball program. David Pierce has taken the greatest program in NCAA history and is running it into the ground. I can’t imagine he lasts another year after this debacle of a season. What a disaster.

Wooo Pig Soooie
Hogs down 4-1 to Gators at home
Come back to take 6-5 lead
Gators load bases with 1 out on top of 8th
Fly ball to center field, Holt on Arkansas pump fakes, and produces an 8-5-2 double play to end the inning

Made the tournament but, oh, the indignity, playing in the Collie Station regional. I’ve read that if we don’t make it to the CWS Pierce is likely gone, which would be welcome news.
No way this team makes the CWS. I don’t think they actually win a game this weekend. It to me is the worst team in ~30 years.

They're clearly not worse than 2019 or 2016.

They're definitely a weird team though. They won 9 of 10 Big 12 series, but it just never seems like they come through when it matters more.

One interesting story on the D-3 side of things. Birmingham Southern advanced to the World Series this past weekend. What’s interesting is that the school is shutting down on May 31 after something like 168 years.

Fun team to root for but they’ll be playing my Alma mater, Salve Regina in the first game of the World Series so I can’t fully pull for them!

Those teams underperformed. This one has poor coaching and little talent the coaches can’t improve imo.

How's the view from the baseball stadium for regular season home games? Very lovely campus. I saw a game at Pepperdine once. Holy hell was that awesome.

And in the 8 team D3 CWS field are two New England teams, Salve as noted and Endicott. SNHU is in the D2 CWS.

No good views, unfortunately. Unless they’ve made significant upgrades since I left, it’s much closer to a high school field set up (small metal bleachers, etc). It’s a few blocks in from the cliff walk.

Nicholls State was down 9-1 to UC Irvine and came back to take a 12-11 lead in the T9.

UC Irvine then scored two runs with two outs in the B9 to walk it off.

In Raleigh today, JMU eliminated South Carolina 2-0 and currently trails NC State 3-2. All 4 of JMU's runs are on solo HRs, all by Mike Mancini. He has never had a multi-HR game. Today he has 2 within 5 hours.

UConn advances with a 7-1 win over Oklahoma!

Turns out, UConn is really good at a lot of sports.

If there is a college baseball Hall of Fame, Jim Penders needs to be inducted someday.
What he and his staff have consistently done with a northeast school is just mind blowing.
UConn has made six straight appearances, and has now made the Super Regionals in 2 of the last 3 years. It doesn't even get warm in Storrs until May.
I believe everyone on the staff is a UConn alum which helps keep the foundation intact when larger schools try to poach.

Carolina's won three games already that they historically don't in the tournament.

This uniform matchup in Clemson makes casual viewing pretty challenging. Clemson wearing purple jerseys with orange hats; Florida wearing orange jerseys with blue hats. ESPN's score bug has Clemson in orange and Florida in blue.

right here
FSU gets screwed on a check swing that should have ended the game and Tennessee goes on to tie it up. Oops.
