They're going to need a fourth QB for camp purposes. Any UFA's out there worth checking out?

A UDFA on Carter would be fun - see how quickly he can add muscle in a pro system, figure out if there’s enough there to carry him on the practice squad.

In addition to Bolden's speed and size, one site notes:
  • Ceiling to be an elite kick/punt returner on the next level (his 93 yard return for a td was very impressive)
  • Versatility jumps out with experience playing the slot, outside and safety

the guy from Shepherd didn’t get picked. I won’t pretend to know anything about him other than I know some people we’re pretty high on him.

You can never really predict the Patriots but the one thing everyone was absolutely sure about was that there is no way they actually used all 11 picks.

Nope, they picked 12.

Truth. This is a top 5 most shocking draft of the BB era.

I'm not completely clear on the salary cap implications of UDFA signings, but, since they did draft a bunch of guys, from my understanding they may be able to target a smaller group than usual and offer better contract terms.

Seems like they missed some chances to get some extra draft assets for next year, but I think they did the right thing not trying to consolidate more this year.

Many darts.

UDFA targets? Luepke or Coletto. Tyrus Wheat. Isaiah Moore. Mo Diabate. Haba Baldonado.

Edit: Also Trey Dean III.

I just saw this. I apologize if I broke protocol. If so, please delete my thread. Fun draft this year in the game thread.
Not a problem - we've alternated so anyone can start it

And very good Patriot draft imo! Wish we could've gotten a tier 1 or 2 OT and maybe had a shot at Branch but aside from that, excellent

I'm sure that there's truth to what he saying. But if some of these "groupthink mock guys" go out and ball for other teams, while the diamonds in the rough are barely kickoff coverage guys or even camp cuts, then the cleverest of clever guys look silly, no¿
No more than when the big names bust. Though really I think Holmes' point isn't about the late rounds (most people don't do or read mocks of those) it's this idea that because you took the guy that was mocked 10th vs. 3rd or 24th vs. 12th.... there isn't any way to really make those differentiations based on public data. It's like when people get mad that a player is dropping, but they haven't seen an MRI of his knee, the team doctors have.

AZ and HOU right now have the lowest number of wins in Vegas for over under bets at 5.5 wins. If it plays out that way, AZ will end up with the 1 and 2 picks. If that is the case, I hope they do better than the Colts did with Steve Emtman and Quentin Coryatt. Kudos to AZ for holding out for the HOU pick and not agreeing to take the Cleveland first rounder.

Oh I agree. And I'm sure that most of the time it's exactly as you describe.

He sounded pretty defensive though. I'm just pointing out that his stance of "my reach is informed, your mock isn't" stops working when the guy mocked is stones, and the reach guy is a bust. Honestly, I admire his confidence.

Evan is right, the Lions are being mocked mostly for spending their first four picks in the 1st and 2nd rounds of the draft on RB, off the ball LB, safety and TE, which are the positions you're least likely to get surplus value out of their rookie deals aside from interior OL. The players themselves are fine and will probably contribute. I like all of them.
