Sadly they are still much better than Doris and Mark Jones
I am grudgingly agreeing with you and even like JVG and Jackson when they are working alone. But they just hate the current NBA. I get that we have criticisms here but I don't want to hear it on a national broadcast. Describe the action. Don't editorialize on how the game is worse than when you were relevant.

The Warriors look completely discombobulated and are only down 3. Not great news for the Lakers.

ESPN/ABC’s line-up for basketball is awful. Their pre-game show is disgustingly bad. I think their best announcing team is their C team (Ryan Ruocco, JJ Redick, and Richard Jefferson). Their A and B teams are a terrible. About the only satisfaction I get from Mark Jackson is when he has to announce Warrior games because it shines a light on how pathetic of an NBA coach he was. Otherwise I’d prefer for him to be on permanent mute

Everyone talks about “load management” being the biggest issue with the NBA. I agree that it’s a massive problem but I think the biggest issue is the amount of flopping/whining in every game.

I am a massive basketball fan but I watch these games and find myself so fucking annoyed with the snapping of the head back whenever a defender is in an area, the falling over after every shot, the constant bitching to the referee after every fucking play. I can’t imagine what someone who doesn’t like basketball that much thinks

On the league pass feeds they show classic moments between the two teams playing which usually has a handful of 90s clips where someone hits a buzzer beater to break a 78-78 tie. No thanks on revisiting that era. If game threads actually existed back then people would literally be hospitalized by the state of play.

Word.

The NBA is leagues better now than it used to be back in the 80s and 90s. Its not perfect but the product is much better. And I am old AF so I should be team "it was better when I was younger" camp.

Its a Saturday night marquee game and ESPN trots out Breen (fine in isolation) along with Waldorf and Statler who proceed to complain about the types of fouls being called in today's NBA. I get that its a real complaint by many here but its an old man yelling at clouds type thing. The league ain't changing because a bunch of blue haired types want it like it was when they grew up.
A problem with the NBA is that the marquee analysts (Barkley, Shaq, JVG, Jackson) hate the game. Goodell would never let NFL media bash the product.

By the Warriors own admissions, AD should be able to stomp on Moses Moody’s chest

Flopping and selling calls hasn't stopped soccer from being the most popular sport in the world. The NBA will be just fine. It's a part of the game now.....because it's effective.

And that’s the problem. It shouldn’t be effective. It fucking sucks. Does anyone like it?

Why shouldn't it be effective? In professional sports the pace of the game is so fast that officials have to often times makes decisions based on players reactions. I have HS/collegiate officials who have told me that this is part of how they must call the game I can't even imagine at the NBA level with how quick everything is occuring.

It must be exhausting to root for Anthony Davis. It’s like TimeLord x10000000

Warriors on pace for 20+ turnovers and Russell with 20+ points already. Lakers can't lose this one if they want to advance.

Wiggins with the spinning step back as he almost falls over on the elevation. He should know by now how to stay within himself.

When the arm is extended into the body that's an easy call though. Roll it back, Klay uses his forearm into Schroder's body for leverage to gain separation.
Yeah, but it seems like that forearm is used on 50% of all drives and it “extends into the body” if the defender throws themselves backwards. If the defender takes the hit and leans into it, it’s not a foul.

I agree. This goes with what I was saying upthread on officials relying on reactions due to the pace/quickness of play.

I actually agree with Kerr challenging that with his team on the brink of getting blown out.

All three Warriors centers—Looney and the Greens—have been awful tonight. They’ve combined for 3 points, 3 rebounds, 3 turnovers, and 7 fouls.

An aggressive and engaged (on offense) AD completely changes the ceiling of this Lakers' team. Luckily for everyone else, it's basically a 50-50 proposition whether he wants to play on that end on any given night.

Wonder what dumb shit Draymond pulls to get himself thrown out. Maybe hitting AD with a chair? Running onto the court in the middle of a play to yell at the ref?
