Had a Phillies’ fan friend of mine tell me the Kimbrel experience is more stressful than Mitch Williams.
Seriously. A no-pop outfielder goes yard on Kimbrel into a little swimming pool.
Might be the best two postseason games on the same day since 2007, when Cleveland beat the Yankees in the game where Joba was covered with midges, then in the late game Manny hit a walkoff bomb off K-Rod.
The Phillies fan who had his head in his hands before Kimbrel even allowed a run is emblematic of every fan when Kimbrel is pitching for your team close and late. It’s either going to be pure torture or pure torture followed by a huge sigh of relief.
Right at this moment he’s probably having flashbacks to the 2013 ALCS.
He has always been dependent on his curve clipping the outside corner and spotting his FB in, all the while having overagressive guys in the 9th not wanting to be seen getting called out on strikes. His game sucks in the 8th inning.
He's going to be the best catcher in the league very soon, I think. Already top 5.
