I would like it if we could separate these threads going forward. It's confusing hearing about two games at once.
I am going to start a thread for tonight's game all by itself.

I think a lot of people will be pulling for the M's & the Padres. Underdog thing. I'm onboard.

Interesting move to pull Manaoa after just 79 pitches in the 6th, especially with two out and no one on. I get that he's already given up four, but are they saving him for later?

I have decided to root hardest for the Guardians. Talk about underdogs: both the youngest and the lowest payroll team. Yes, even lower payroll than the Rays!
Saw something earlier today that said that the last time the youngest team in the league (as the Guardians are) made the post-season was the 1986 Mets. Could be a good omen, especially with the way they handled the moment today.

Yeah, that's odd. They think he can throw an inning in a potential Game 3 on one day rest? It's not analytics-based, I don't think, because he's gone longer in starts this year

You'll have to forgive @LogansDad for his split loyalties, especially since it's been so long since those of us in the PNW have seen a Mariners playoff game of any type
Haha, I'm not in the PNW, but have been working for the M's AA team the last two years, so they are a pretty big rooting interest for me.

He looks as though he'd have been a perfect acquisition for the Boston Red Sox, no?
The Mariners gave up a crazy big package of prospects for him, including their top two prospects. Basically went all in to get him. Not sure the Sox were in a position where it made sense to out-do the M's. But yeah, of course he'd have been great to get.

The team that might really regret letting Castillo get away is the Yankees. Think they could have had him if they gave up both Oswalds. Is Frankie Montas even going to be on the ALDS roster?

The Mariners LOVE JP Crawford, too, so giving up Marte and Arroyo, even though both were basically consensus top 100 guys, doesn't hurt their system as much as it would have with the Sox. I really don't think the Sox had a package that could even come close to that without mortgaging the future.

Cabrera did not have much value at the deadline, he’s never been a top 100 prospect and he was bad in AAA to start the year and then out for two months.

NY would have had to give up Volpe and maybe Peraza too, they weren’t doing that. Montas came back too soon from his injury and has been a bust but NY’s rotation is still their biggest strength if Cole is actually Cole.

Also it would have been a crime to make Castillo cut his awesome hair because their dead owner thought baseball players should look like soldiers.

Sorry I confused Cabrera and Volpe. Yep, I think Volpe was the hangup.

Right now that trade has been 1000% worth it for the Mariners. Yanks, we have to see if they win anyways and/or Judge leaves, right?

Still waiting on that movie Vlad... pretty pedestrian numbers compared to last year's non-Ohtani MVP campaign

Their issues are their lineup and their bullpen, moving Volpe and Peraza would have created more holes in the future. I love Castillo but once SEA offered Marte, it didn’t make sense for NY to try to outbid.

If I'm going to be honest, its really tough to find a team to root for between the Mets and the Padres.

Also hoping that the AL East teams go a combined 0 - 10 in the playoffs.

0-7 I think it would be, 0-2 for TOR and TB (halfway there!) and 0-3 for NY.

Sarah having ALS, fuck man, we never deserved any part of her. She IS the best, to paraphrase her catchphrase.

Always a smile in the studios working with messages and approaches that always conveyed her unbridled enthusiasm for the game. You could always feel that smile in what she says, what she tweets. Always. No matter what. Just an amazingly kind and selfless individual that personally speaking was inspiring. She's one of only two (I'm the other) female researchers for MLB/MLBN (as opposed to like FOX or ESPN). Eternally thankful for her yet simultaneously distraught.

Fuck ALS. So hard. Lost my favorite teacher from it too.

I gotta admit, I've never heard of this Cal Raleigh kid (damn 10PM starts) before a few days ago. Nice week he's been having.
