Looks like we struggled to put away Maine. That’s good.
I watched this game, mostly because my mom and dad were there.

A couple breaks and some favorable calls from the refs; UMaine wins. This BC team is garbage.

Edit: They also played dirty all game, which UMaine responded to by acting like punks as well. But BC was the instigator. Not a good look.

BC only outgained Maine 431-378. I didn’t watch, but it looks like it might have been a close game if Maine didn’t turn it over three times.

We’re bad this year. Looking at the remaining schedule, I see only one game where I’d expect BC to be favored (against UConn). Louisville at home in two weeks is the only one of the next four games where I wouldn’t expect BC to be a double-digit underdog. Duke and Notre Dame might be winnable games later in the year, but I think we’ll be limping into East Hartford at 1-6 or 2-5.
Maine had chances to catch up in the 4th. They got stopped on a 4th an 2 from the 12 (terrible play call). then after shutting down the next BC drive, Maine had a 4th and longer, and had a Wide open receiver for a TD which the QB just missed.

The bigger picture here is Hafley is going nowhere for 2-3 years, his agent isn't going to be able to spin this season into more money or a better job - you see with the early openings now, his name isn't near anything. So he probably will replace McNulty with a OC he can give a couple year deal to - whereas I am guessing McNulty only got a one yr deal because Hafley thought he could spin this year with a senior Heisman QB and 1st round receiver into a much better job.

Nice start to this one, Haf. Peter Principle in play here.

The score is not reflective of this game (which doesn’t help if you are a BC fan). This BC offense is really really bad. The Noles scored a ton on LSU and Louisville so BC defense not looking that bad to me but the offense is a mess. The line is playing bad, the QB is playing bad which makes me think they are not comfortable in whatever scheme they are trying to run.

Hafley tanked the season before it started with his OL/OC coach hires.

Not sure I've ever seen a dumber play than what Phil just tried to do there

The forward pass when he was 6 yards past the line of scrimmage on the last drive of the first half wasn't much smarter.

As Mark Herzlich said, you hold you breath every time Jurk touches the ball

Very happy for the players, 2-2 is a whole lot different than 1-3.

Jurk 18-21 for 304 yards today, finally looked like himself. And Zay is just insane, he’s going to kill it in the NFL.

7-8 yard loss, wooohooo! Best one ever.

And the fans came out too, tailgating until 1 in the mist, that was impressive, I thought there would be no one there. Wrong!

Need to beat UCon and get another one along the way (Duke, perhaps?) and we get to 4 wins, baby!

They got touchdowns when they needed them and then they got field goals when they needed them.

Good D in the fourth.

And I'm kinda pissed we get a bye not before Clemson, or SBCC, but Wake. Weird.

Cunningham injury proved to be decisive. Offense clearly much better in this one. I’ll take it before Clemson and Wake destroy us next.

I have no earthly clue how or why Zay stayed, but he's at least giving me a reason to continue watching this year.

Offensive line is still having poor moments but overall they have been improving week to week. Defense will really be challenged by Wake next game. Jurk needs to play within himself. I understand the prior games where he was being rushed and they were behind early but this was a game where the team was ahead when he made that awful fumble and overall had many plays (including that one) where he had time and just held the ball too long!

So hard to figure out, Kind of a slap fight between to bottom feeder teams. Almost certain Louisville wins the game if Cunningham doesn't miss the last 10 min or so.

Zay is such a generational player. Certainly a top 5 offensive player in BC history, and maybe top 3. I am always amazed when I see teams leaving him in 1-1, because I would double team him on every snap and dare BC to beat me with anyone else.

Too many early mistakes. Should be up by multiple scores, and instead are tied at 3. Gotta capitalize when a team like Clemson hands you an entire half of football.

Good thing Jeff looked in their eyes at halftime. Clearly motivated them.

Defense really played a great game tonight. Got to give them credit.

Offense is offensive. I though coaching played too conservative in first half. Clemson was sleepwalking through the first half. Clemson turned up the screws in the second half, and BC wouldn't have scored if they gave them 25 possessions

Yup. D showed up. Offense had good opportunities and did absolutely nothing with them.

I couldn't believe that after Clemson went ahead w/45 seconds left; Hafley ran out the clock. Clemson even kept the door open by calling a time out.

He was coaching scared and to not get blown out. I can’t stand that approach when you’re as overmatched as we were.

...and how many times does a defense dominate a half; only to give up 40-50 yards in the final seconds of a half or game? They got a first down at the 35 or thereabouts; what was the danger throwing a few passes down the field?

I thought for sure that BC would cover. Clemson is massively over rated this year. DJ is as garbage as a premiere team QB can be (non Bama backup division).

However I had no idea how bad BC’s offense was. They are truly, truly horrible. DII teams are running better offenses than they showed last night.

Keep in mind they’re this bad with the best WR the program will ever have (and likely day 2 pick) and a 5th year senior QB who was on NFL draft boards entering the season. The OL and OC game planning has been just so incredibly incompetent, like back to the days of Gary Tranquil.

BC offense is bad, and it is very exploitable. Then again they were able to outscore Louisville, who didn't have the weapons or scheme to attack BC offense (and admittedly BC loses that game if the Lousville QB doesn't miss the last 2 drives). Clemson represented the nightmare matchup; although the Tigers did sleepwalk through the firsthalf

Like next week BC gets Wake, and I don't think they have the weapons to dominate BC offense. On the other hand Wake's offense is dramatically better than Clemson, and a far worse matchup for BC defense,

Wake Forest, UConn, Duke, NC State, ND, Syracuse.

If you said before the season started that 3 of those teams would be ranked and none of those 3 would be Catholic universities, you win a prize.

The ND game is very winnable.

They actually get down to first and goal, burn two time outs plus a false start, it's so damn obvious how poorly this offense is being coached.

I sent this to a media member close to the team this morning:
I hate to shit on a kid but I could play better OT then Connoly. He was a fucking turnstile the one game he played last year and if possible gotten worse. WTF happened to the Pyne kid who came in same year as Ozzie and the big German kid from IMG. For god sake he’s something like 6’8” 340 just fucking standing there would be an improvement

His reply:
There’s no help coming is basically the only thing I can say at this point. It’s frustrating and embarrassing but as of now it is what it is

Look you guys know I’m Fuckin old, I graduated in 78 and that fall we went 0-11 but were in every game. Going into yesterday I told people to take Wake and give the 21

I still like Hafley but there need to be big changes on O this off season, there’s a reason that McNulty was never an OC before.
We knew Yukika was done in the 70 when my mother could call the plays as BC broke the huddle. If he runs poor Garwo off tackle one more first series I’m liable to come down out of QQ and take the headset off him myself

6'7 300 and according to BC's stats, hasn't played a down yet. Injured? Not being redshirted, that was last year, so this year is one of his four for sure.

UCONN is terrible. But they are nowhere near as bad as they were last 2-3 years. There’s not a lot of talent there and they’ve had serious injuries, but they play hard. But yeah this wouldn’t be good for BC
