The thing we have to remember about the 17th game is it replaces a preseason game. I know a lot of star players don't play a ton in the preseason, but I am thinking about this as if it is adding some fraction of an extra game, but not really an entire game. They are still playing 20 total preseason + regular season games. Can't believe the players agreed to that, should have gotten a lot more with the 17th game.
This seems shocking. Woulda thought he was worth more then that. Wow.

Castonzo: I’m thinking about retiring
The underrated Judy Battista addresses this in her recapdoes this mean the season starts a week earlier or goes a week later? (e.g. week 4 of pre-season becomes week 1 of regular season)
So it looks like three preseason games, a week off, then the season picks up for realzAnd there must be a "bye week" after the third and final preseason game before the start of the regular season.
The increasing salary cap due to the increased revenue allotted to player salaries will be a huge boon to the Ravens and Chiefs. (Well, every GM, really.). Both clubs will have similar plans - go all in during the QB-rookie-contract, leave enough cap space for a record setting 2nd contract, then deal with a transition season before re-emerging with a reconfigured roster. if the cap reaches the 48.8% of revenues quickly, it will be that much easier to eat dead money from contracts signed in that QB-rookie-contract window.A) he will be 34 in September
B) he is slated to make $15M this year base salary
As the tweet says, he is going to sign an extension that will reduce the 2020 cap hit, but that likely means some dead cap hits for the Ravens in a year or two.
the plan to move forward with the new league year as scheduled isn’t set in stone. Per a league source, discussions between the NFL and the NFLPA are expected to resume on Monday, as new information comes in and decisions potentially are revised.
In theory, those conversations can happen even after the legal tampering window opens. That possibility could cause some teams to not jump into the free-agency pool as aggressively as they otherwise would.
If teams are unhappy about it, why are teams gonna fly guys in? Not ideal, but I hear there’s technology to work around that problem.

Brady's not throwing in TB? I want them to be surprised when the throws hit the guys on his team.Premier free agents are not working out.
Yeah. Physicals might be the biggest obstacle and why some are pushing for a delay.Brady's not throwing in TB? I want them to be surprised when the throws hit the guys on his team.
And yeah, not working out, but there are physicals. But I think that's a different animal than flying around and being wined and dined.
This doesn't seem like a good use of resources.
Unless they just wanted to get that on him and then will work to renegotiate something.Yea not at all

I thought there were rumors that the Bengals were going to do this to appease or entice Joe Burrow to sign with them but I agree with your comment. This doesn't seem like a good use of resources.
