After they fired Chip, they hired Reid's OC and promoted Reid's personnel exec back to GM. So they were definitely following the Reid blueprint.
That's fine. But that doesn't change the fact that the Eagles won the SB 6 years after Reid left. Let's not pretend that was anything like Barry Switzer taking over for Jimmy Johnson in 1994 and winning the Super Bowl in 1994. It was 6 years.

5 years. Fired after the 2012 season, they win 5 seasons later. No, Reid isn't due as much credit as Jimmy Johnson is for 1995, but read what I wrote.

If you couldn't / didn't have Belichick, what coach would you most want out of the current league? My pick would be Reid, there are other defensible picks, but you're either lying or crazy if you say he's not in your top 5.
Well this is what I am getting at. Reid obviously can do a lot of the job extremely well but you can't just ignore the pervasive clock management and game decision issues that have plagued him for 20 years. It's baffling because as I wrote last night, coaching up Matt Moore to go toe-to-toe with Aaron Rodgers in a shootout seems like it should be much, much harder than figuring out how to use timeouts properly.

Reid would be a safe choice to replace BB in that you'd be pretty much guaranteed to have a solid playoff contender year after year, but then again being a solid playoff contender year after year and never actually winning a Super Bowl would also be super frustrating after a while.

Would Andy Reid with Ernie Adams be the GOAT? I know Adams handles a massive amount of the situational probabilities and decision making for things like clock management.

No. Not Jon Gruden.

Look, if Reid’s teams didn’t constantly lose in the playoffs because he makes weird calls, or loses track of time or has a QB puking on the sidelines, I’d get that. Billy Beane’s teams don’t always lose in the playoffs because he constantly constructs them with the same weakness.

Maybe you can look to Bill’s 3 SB losses and point to bad decisions. Maybe have Ghost kick that field goal in the Scottish Game. Maybe play Malcom against the Eagles. Maybe put glue on Welker’s gloves in the second Giants’ Super Bowl.

But, every time I watch Reid coach in the playoffs he does something dumb that even I know in the moment is dumb. He’s not a winner winner. I’d take my chances with guys who have gone all the way, or have the potential to.

20 years in the league and a couple silver medals tells you where his ceiling is.
Excellent post and ditto!

This is the moment I discovered how much I dislike the Steelers.

Go Miami! I guess...

The cradle of the game.
LOL...7-zip fish... Steelers might literally implode.

... but then again, I'd prefer for Tomlin to keep his job for another decade or two...

So many angles to consider

Even the announcer in Pittsburgh sucks, announcing it was 3rd down when it was 1st and 10.

Nice job by Watt to take himself completely out of the play and allow Fitz to easily step up

The Steelers look like they have the worst offense in football.

Was it the Steelers and Dolphins all those years ago that had the punt stuck in the mud game? This is about where that was.

Second quarter of MNF and the announcers are idly talking about how excited they are for NE @ BAL next weekend, on another network.

Andy Reid not knowing he needs an Ernie Adams and then finding a good one says something in itself, no?
I think this is where most people are with Andy Reid. Hire a bench coach, or a strategy dude, or buy a copy of Carmen from the Red Sox, or something. Until then, it just seems like your waiting for the inevitable big game issue.

Does Rudolph understand the guys in the white jerseys are not on his team? He just stands there.

The ref threw a flag because the Pittsburgh punter, trying to get to the Miami returner, bumped into the back of a Miami blocker who was running backwards. How do you throw that flag on Pittsburgh?

Remember when Joe Haden was regarded and paid as one of the best CBs in the league? Now they got Ryan Fitzpatrick targeting him specifically.

Nobody makes every completion in a game between two of the worst teams in football sound like the Immaculate Reception like Tessitore.
