I’d imagine they’re off today but I haven’t seen.Harry and Cajuste can start practicing today, correct?
I completely forgot about Cajuste. Could he possibly be an upgrade on Newhouse?Harry and Cajuste can start practicing today, correct?
I don't think Belichick knows about Columbus Day, Pip. Or second breakfast, for that matter.I’d imagine they’re off today but I haven’t seen.
BB commented on Harry saying that he's mentally where he needs to be but needs to show that he's ready physically and if he's there then he will practice.I’d imagine they’re off today but I haven’t seen.
Their first real practice of the week will come on Thursday. They may have a walkthrough on Wednesday though. Not sure when the Pats will start practicing again. Normally, Monday is an off day for the players anyway. They will come in for meetings and getting treatment and doing individual workouts, but Harry and Cajuste would have already been eligible to go to meetings and use team facilities. So it could be Wednesday, the typical first practice day of the week, before we know anything. But this is an odd week with the game coming up on Monday night, so don't really know.
My guess based on Bill's comments is that Harry would have to pass the team's conditioning and strength drills before being activated.
The Pats' league rankings:The Pats now have a higher point differential than every other positive team in the AFC combined.

Long story short: the offense is still better than average. By most measurements, it's still pretty good. Not elite at this point, but pretty good. But the defense, obviously, is completely off the charts great.
A team can definitely win the Super Bowl with that combination.
I like the Roosevelt Nix idea, but at least for now he’s on the shelf with a bad knee.I'm not going to go through depth charts of all the crap teams, but here are a few options:
DEN: Andrew Beck was mentioned upthread and he's behind rookie George Aston, another guy they could ask about.
PIT: Roosevelt "Bowling Ball" Nix- 5'11", 265.
MIA: Rookie Chandler Cox, 6', 260- rated the #2 FB in the draft last year.
NYG: Rhett Ellison TE/H-back type, experience blocking on the line and out of the backfield.
Agree with this. The Patriots never take WRs in the first round. The kid is big and strong with good hands and a great catch radius. I’m looking forward to seeing what he can do.I’m unreasonably excited for Harry to come back.
I think he’s going to be great.
He has a huge opportunity in front of him. I really want to see Harry/Gordon on the outside with Edelman working the middle of the field.I’m unreasonably excited for Harry to come back.
I think he’s going to be great.
Nice. Realistically, he might have a bigger impact than anyone else we can trade for.
On the bright side, the Pats usually don't waste time putting a player on IR if he has a season ending injury.I'm a bit nervous because there has been radio silence about Gordon since Thursday night/Friday morning. Rapaport said they "dodged a bullet" but we haven't heard what the injury is yet.
I always knew E5 Yaz was actually Belichick. The dry humor gave it away.
Right that’s what I meant!Other way around on the games played. SF has played one fewer.
I've been under the impression its a no for #1 and a yes for #2. It happened to us a couple years ago where someone started practicing but had a setback never played for us but still ate up the return spot.If a player on IR begins to practice with the team (1) does he take up a roster spot right away, and (2) is he deemed to take up one of the two return spots as soon as he starts practicing?
Correct. And that player was Shea Mclellin a couple of years ago.I've been under the impression its a no for #1 and a yes for #2. It happened to us a couple years ago where someone started practicing but had a setback never played for us but still ate up the return spot.
Correct. And once he starts practicing, they have 21 days to make a decision to activate him to be one of the 53 or IR him for good.I've been under the impression its a no for #1 and a yes for #2. There is flexibility for when they start that 21 day clock as well. The team could decide that there may be no point in having him practice these 2 weeks if he cannot play anyway. I would be mildly surprised if he wasn't cleared to practice this week, but there is a chance it could be another week or two as well.Correct. And once he starts practicing, they have 21 days to make a decision to activate him to be one of the 53 or IR him for good.
Either way, he takes one DTR spot as soon as he practices one day.
For a rookie, every rep is critical. Especially if they want production out of him in the playoffs. If he is healthy enough to practice, I imagine they'll activate him right away. There is flexibility for when they start that 21 day clock as well. I'm not following the logic though. Why would they not want him practicing every day he's eligible? There is flexibility for when they start that 21 day clock as well. The team could decide that there may be no point in having him practice these 2 weeks if he cannot play anyway.
Just a juggling game I imagine. They might want to wait another few days to get a better read on others on the IR before committing to which one(s) to DTR. If they let Harry practice even once, they've committed him to one of the DTR slots.I'm not following the logic though. Why would they not want him practicing every day he's eligible?
I guess the thought would be that you don’t have him start practice if he’s going to be limited still; you wait until he can be a full participant.I'm not following the logic though. Why would they not want him practicing every day he's eligible?
Not necessarily. An MCL might only take him out for a month. They could just make him inactive for the next three games, and then he could be ready after the bye. Unless there's a roster crunch, there's no reason to IR him.LaCosse's season is probably over, his roster spot will be needed before he's healed and he wouldn't be a IR-DTR
I guess it depends what a “few” is. There’s not very much cap room left after the presumed Watson signing. They are almost at a point where you might think about holding a spot open just to avoid the cost of bringing a new salary onboard. Obviously though it doesn’t matter if you use the spot to bring a player off IR since you are paying him anyway.LaCosse's season is probably over, his roster spot will be needed before he's healed and he wouldn't be a IR-DTR
why would you need it? if he's only out a few weeks, and you've got a roster spot courtesy of Jakob Johnson going on IR, what's the harm in keeping him on the 53 (and not the 46)?LaCosse's season is probably over, his roster spot will be needed before he's healed and he wouldn't be a IR-DTR
He replaces LaCosse. Watson takes Johnson’s spot.
They haven't put LaCosse on IR though. He replaces LaCosse. Watson takes Johnson’s spot.
Yeah. I'm not sure that'll be the move. With the extra rest between games, Chung should be able to hopefully handle more than the eight snaps that he played on Thursday. Doesn't look like Jordan Richards played any snaps in the secondary (in either week 5 or week 6). (Where does one find special team snap counts?) Richards could be cut to add a roster spot. They haven't put LaCosse on IR though.
This is a somber day in SSF's household. Please, leave us to mourn in peace.Somewhere @SeoulSoxFan sheds a lonely tear:

They're on pf-ref too. Richards played 13 ST snaps against the Giants, 25 against Washington. With Ebner back, his role was reduced, and once Burkhead returns, he's likely expendable.Yeah.
