BREAKING: The Steelers are still talking with “several” teams who are interested in trading for Antonio Brown, but there does not appear to be a hard-fast deadline to get a deal completed, per sources. Story coming on @PGSportsNow
Aka The Steelers fake news attempts to scare someone into irrationally giving up a first have failed for the time being.

“Like Scott (Boras), I want to be like Scott ...”

The lying season is upon us. It lasts from the Combine through the draft.

Josh Allen and AB are hypothetically a good pair in the Jay Cutler “Fuck it I’m going deep” type of way. So that’s something.

Rapshit is a joke. He gets so many big stories wrong, which is amazing given his employer.

I don't think he was necassarily wrong here---I think AB let folks know he DEFINITELY wasn't playing nice or signing in Buffalo. The question becomes, why would they think he would?

Screams of desperation to me. I doubt Pats are interested but if they were, Steelers would be dumb to not deal with them if they have the best offer. You’re going through New England with or without AB. And then you have teams like KC, LAC, etc. Simply can’t GM in fear like Pitt is doing.

What a mess---he is effectively $20 mil in dead money at this point. I guess you wait until the draft and get what you can at this point, but it sure is looking like there is not going to be a ton of value coming back. Steelers would much rather ship him somewhere for a conditional 7th round pick than just cut him and risk him going to a AFC competitor I expect.

That's what this piece seems to claim. My suspicion is that AB also wants a new contract and that is a big problem for many teams.

Teams that could afford him tend to be bad so he probably doesn't want to go there. Teams that he'd like to play for probably don't have the cap space or are too smart to give him a gazillion dollar contract.

Or maybe the Bills finally got to talk to AB and he told them he wanted a new gazillion dollar contract, the Bills told the Steelers that given his contract demands they couldn't offer more than a bag of footballs in trade, and the Steelers backed out.
I think this was probably it. His "Bills price" was probably something stupid, like Aaron Rodgers money or something.

For Kevin Zeitler. Giants improve OL and Browns get a nice DL. Good move for Cleveland.
Good deal for both teams. The dead money is about the same for both teams ($7.2M for Cle, $8M for NYG). Giants would pay $32M over the next 3 years with only $3.5M guaranteed. Browns would pay $30.5M over the next 2 years with only $500K guaranteed in workout bonuses. Browns use up more AAV but can get out earlier if they need to (no dead money on Vernon's deal). Giants could do the same.

Just spitballing here, but what would people think about trading #32, #56, and JC Jackson for OBJ? That would seem to be fair value for Beckham.
I think they've got so many uncertainties on the roster, particularly along the DL, that I'd hate to give up the first two picks ... even for an obvious upgrade such as OBJ.

I’d do it, mostly because the Brady/OBJ bromance would annoy New Yorkers so much and it would be great to watch.

I have a very hard time envisioning giving up multiple high picks for a guy making that kind of money with question marks. They had interest last year before the extension.

Pass on OBJ not to him

He's a very talented and expensive prima dona. And I'm not sure Brady can still fully exploit OBJ's skill set and he may get pissy quickly.

And fuck bailing out the Giants.

Way too expensive, especially since NEP apparently believe that some day JC Jackson > Gilmore.

Don't really want to fish in these waters, but since the itch needs scratching, I'd offer #32 and #56 for AB and force Pittsburgh to make a hard decision, before I'd do this.

With AB the production and availability are off the charts and his contract the next 3 years is quite reasonable. If I'm going to open a vein and pay this sort of heavy price, I need something as guaranteed as I can get.

Contract is a bit high but not as high as it seems. The total deal is 5 years, $90 million. But, the $20 million signing bonus has been paid out already by the Giants so that already cuts the cash owed to him by NE down to 5/70 which is fair value for someone of his ability. However breaking it down even further the meat of the contract owed to OBJ by the Pats would be 3 years/$47 million because the last 2 years the Pats could move on from him, only have $4 million in dead money in 2022(none in 2023), and save $15 million each on the 2022 and 2023 caps.

Or just pay a 2nd rounder for AJ Green...
The less expensive, the better. AJ Green has averaged 14 games a season over an 8-year career. Over a 5-year career, OBJ has missed a quarter of the Giants' games, and the last two years, has missed half of them.

Yeah I'm all about AJ Green if that is possible. Seems much quieter, is probably pissed from playing with a shitty QB for a shitty team, etc.

If AJ Green could be acquired for a 2nd, someone would have done it already.

Give me OBJ/Gronk/Edelman with the Gordon wild card and Sony/White/Burkhead as the RBs.

We’re in playing with house money mode now. I’m going for max entertainment.

Think of the children! Some of them have only seen two SB wins in their lifetimes! We need to think long term.
He wants to throw the sword into the owners’ suites through the League. And that’s fine, as long as you acknowledge that trumps all else.

Lot of people figured something was likely with Gilbert, Steelers have good line depth and continuity and several legit backups with potential to start. Matt Feiler will likely step into his spot, a backup who has started before. Gilbert has only played 12 games the last two years due to injuries and a suspension and I believe he's in final year or his contract. He's been very good for quite a while, but injuries and a next man up opportunity seemed to point this way.
