This defense proved that it's elite by absolutely shutting down the much hyped Cowboys offense. No TD against Dak, Elliott, Cooper (no catch!), Gallup, is something else.

I thought the offense was valiant without their top receiving options & the ST came through again with a blocked punt.

Once again, it's GAME BALL TIME!!!

I thought Tom was great tonight, even if it doesn't show up in the stat line. I came away more optimistic about the offense after this game than I have in a while.

One goat shipped to Aikman for crying (no) foul on the last tripping call & the timekeeper for not running that last second down.

edit: more game balls are deserved on the defensive side but I’m not smart enough to figure out who. Guy? Van Not?

Slater for completely turning the game with his punt block, and his usual amazing punt coverage.
Gilmore for completely shutting down Amari Cooper, in addition to some amazing pass defenses and his ridiculous pick.

Wynn for not being Newhouse
This was the first game in a long time where Brady could survey the entire field and pick out his target. OL is all about bringing up the weakest link and Wynn does so much more than that. I kept watching his feet and it moved faster than Harry's.

Matt Slater for that blocked punt
Elandon Roberts for getting Sony those 2 runs to effectively ice the game
Gilmore for being awesome as always
Garrett and Kellen Moore for that awesome hook and ladder play at the end

NE coaching staff for confusing the hell out of the punting team, effectively gaining 20+ yards of field position just for being smarter than the other team.

93 yards for Edelman in the rain as clear option one. He was a field position machine in a field position game.

Bill made a point to praise Cannon, said he's been sick for days and wasn't expected to play. BB called it one of the best efforts he's seen, some high praise.

Also helps explain some of the plays on the right side being blown up so badly.

It's worth remembering that coming into this game, Dallas had the #1 offense in the league by DVOA. The Pats D made them look really bad. The secondary was great and the front 7 was stout enough against Elliott in the rain. Making the best offense in the league look like that is not something that happens very often in the NFL, weather or not.

The special teams decision-making was amazing. The pop-up kicks which kept getting fumbled (or just missed) really highlighted the difference in planning between the two staffs. The Pats had a weather-specific kickoff plan. The Cowboys? Did not. In a game of little things, that was the one that jumped out for me today

Yeah, they had, what, three live balls out in the kicking game, not counting the blocked punt?

Yup, And while they recovered none of the three, they could have...and it impacted starting position. There's so many little things, and BB ALWAYS nails them.

Really? Thought he had a pretty lousy game all in all. The kick-offs into the wind were pretty effective though.
Slater goofed one of his punts that would’ve been downed inside the 10.

The others just rolled instead of bouncing. I assume that was because of field conditions. Every punt hit the ground inside the 10.

Gronk deserves some love for finding a way to say "the Patriots did what they needed to do and sometimes that's all you need to do to win" three times in a row on the postgame show.

Flag for offensive gameball. I mean people knew he’d show up and could fly down the field but nobody expected him to come up big like this or tie for the longest offensive play.

Jonathan Jones, Gilmore, Slater here. What an incredible performance by these three today. Unfair, from the first snap to the last.

Rookie wideouts. Held their own. Wish N’Keal had hung on to one of those two he almost made, but just building trust with Brady is reason to celebrate. Keep stacking experience. Let’s go.
